Since 1956, our practice has focused on designing timeless, beautiful, sustainable architecture. We seek a talented, self-motivated, full-time Specifications Writer and QA/QC Manager who desires to help us continue our thoughtful, contextual design legacy. Candidates for this position must have worked on a minimum of 5-10 medium to large-scale architectural projects as a project architect or specification writer and be able to demonstrate a strong interest in executing highly detailed architecture.

Applicant Requirements
- A Bachelor of Architecture degree from an accredited institution or relevant work experience
- Project architect or spec writer experience on at least 5-10 projects; preference is given to candidates who have public and institutional project experience
- Outstanding communication and time management skills – you will be responsible for working independently and as a part of a collaborative team
Candidates should demonstrate:
- Ability to travel to local and regional client sites (personal transportation not required)
- Commitment to our company’s hybrid work schedule, working in-office four days/week. FFA reserves the right to change this policy
- Strong interest and commitment to researching and promoting sustainable materials and construction practices – you will maintain and review the FFA master specification, including sustainability best practices
- Experience developing project specifications at various design phases for public and private projects
- Ability to manage the QA/QC process by maintaining drawing checklists, coordinating QA/QC reviews, and coordinating with the QA/QC Partner in Charge to advance the process towards the highest project delivery quality
- Enthusiasm for supporting and mentoring project team members while contributing to a positive office culture
Additional Qualifications
The preferred candidate can perform conceptual cost estimation, is experienced with Buy America, Build America, and other federal procurement regulations, and has experience with current fabrication techniques (e.g., CNC, 3D Printing, etc.).
