Overview

Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Part-Time Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in perioperative care! In this vital role, you will provide exceptional nursing support before, during, and after surgical procedures, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and optimal outcomes. This position offers a flexible schedule for motivated RNs eager to make a meaningful impact in a fast-paced surgical environment. Your expertise will help streamline perioperative processes, support surgical teams, and enhance patient experiences through compassionate and precise care.

Duties

Prepare patients for surgery by conducting thorough assessments, reviewing medical histories, and explaining procedures to alleviate anxiety.
Assist with sterile techniques and aseptic procedures during surgeries to maintain infection control standards.
Monitor patient vital signs and physiological responses throughout perioperative phases, including anesthesia administration and recovery.
Manage IV infusions, catheter care, wound suturing, and other invasive procedures with precision and adherence to safety protocols.
Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical staff to coordinate patient care plans and ensure seamless operative flow.
Document all nursing interventions accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Support post-operative recovery by assessing pain levels, managing acute pain treatments, and providing discharge instructions aligned with best practices.

Qualifications

Valid RN license in good standing with current state registration.
Proven experience in perioperative nursing or operating room (OR) settings; experience with surgical procedures including suturing and sterile processing preferred.
Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques, medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and infection control protocols.
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; proficiency in medical documentation is essential.
Ability to perform IV insertions, venipuncture, catheter care, and other invasive nursing skills confidently.
Critical care experience in ICU or trauma centers is highly desirable; familiarity with Level I or Level II trauma center standards is a plus.
Excellent patient assessment skills combined with compassionate communication to support patients through stressful surgical experiences.
Knowledge of ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and medical imaging terminology enhances your ability to document accurately.
