Full Job Description

Job Overview:

The Tool & Die / Jig & Fixture Maker builds, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs the jigs, fixtures, gauges, weld/assembly tooling, and die details used in our assembly cells. This role ensures all tooling is safe, reliable, and capable of meeting strict production, quality, and delivery requirements within a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Essential Job Functions

Build & Repair: Fabricate, assemble, modify, and repair jigs, fixtures, gauges, weld/assembly tooling, and die details.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose tooling issues and perform root cause analysis on fixture-related defects, downtime, or quality concerns.
Maintenance: Execute preventative and corrective maintenance on all assembly cell tooling according to established schedules.
Technical Blueprint Reading: Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, CAD drawings/models, and fixture/die layouts.
Machining: Machine precise tooling components using manual and CNC equipment, including mills, lathes, grinders, and EDM.
Setup & Tryout: Set up and test fixtures in production cells, making adjustments to achieve part quality and dimensional accuracy.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams during new program launches, tooling changes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Quality Compliance: Ensure all tooling meets customer standards, print specifications, and IATF 16949 quality requirements.
Documentation: Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation for all tooling maintenance and repair activities.
Safety & Organization: Follow all safety guidelines, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), wear required PPE, and maintain a clean work area.
Vendor Support: Assist with external tool builds, modifications, and communications with tooling vendors as required.
Professional Growth: Take direction and coaching positively to improve performance, and assume additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Completion of a formal Tool & Die apprenticeship or equivalent hands-on experience.
