Position Summary:
MASCI General Contractors is seeking an experienced Construction Technology Specialist to support our heavy civil construction operations. This individual will be the company’s subject matter expert for construction technology and machine control systems, providing field support, equipment setup, troubleshooting, operator training, and ongoing technology management across multiple projects.
This position will be responsible for supporting our GPS machine control systems, robotic and total station technology, millimeter systems, survey equipment, and related construction technology. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in both the field and office, solving technical problems, training employees, and ensuring our technology is operating at peak performance.
- Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs on construction technology tools, including software applications, hardware systems, and digital platforms
- Provide technical support for construction software such as project management systems, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems used in construction documentation
- Design instructional content for e-learning courses, instructor-led training sessions, and online training platforms to enhance professional development in construction technology
- Conduct classroom and virtual training sessions utilizing LMS (Learning Management Systems), Adobe Captivate, and other e-learning platforms
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to computer networking, operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux), and software applications like Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Collaborate with project teams to develop new training modules tailored to evolving construction technologies and client needs
- Maintain detailed documentation of training activities, technical support cases, and instructional content for continuous improvement
Primary Responsibilities:
● Set up, calibrate, and troubleshoot Topcon machine control systems.
● Configure and support GPS machine control equipment for motor graders, dozers, excavators, curb machines, and other heavy equipment.
● Set up and maintain Topcon Millimeter GPS systems.
● Set up, operate, and troubleshoot LPS (Local Positioning System) robotic systems and total stations.
● Configure base stations, rovers, RTK corrections, radios, and data collectors.
● Build, load, verify, and maintain machine control files and project data.
● Train operators, foremen, superintendents, and survey personnel on proper use of construction technology.
● Provide field support for active construction projects throughout our operating area.
● Troubleshoot hardware, software, communications, and machine control issues.
● Coordinate repairs, firmware updates, software updates, and equipment maintenance.
● Work with manufacturers and technical support to resolve complex issues.
● Assist with developing standard operating procedures (SOPs), training materials, and documentation.
● Evaluate new construction technologies and make recommendations to improve productivity, quality, and safety.
● Maintain inventory and accountability of construction technology equipment and accessories.
Minimum Required Qualifications (Must Have):
● Minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on experience with construction technology and machine control systems.
● Extensive experience with Topcon machine control systems.
● Extensive experience with GPS machine control.
● Experience with Topcon Millimeter GPS systems.
● Experience setting up and operating LPS (Local Positioning System) robotic systems.
● Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
● Experience training equipment operators and field personnel.
● Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
● Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
● Ability to travel to various project sites as needed.
● Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
● Strong communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):
● AutoCAD experience.
● Trimble Business Center (TBC) experience.
● Experience building and editing machine control models.
● Surveying experience.
● Experience with RTK, CORS networks, coordinate systems, and site calibrations/localization.
● Experience with Leica or Trimble machine control systems.
● Experience operating heavy equipment.
● FAA Part 107 Drone License.
● Experience with LiDAR, 3D scanning, or reality capture technologies.
● OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
● Experience developing training programs or instructional materials.
This person will become the company’s primary resource for construction technology, helping support our field operations, improve productivity, reduce downtime, and train our employees on current and future technologies. We’re looking for someone who is highly technical, enjoys solving problems, communicates well with field personnel, and takes ownership of keeping our technology running efficiently.
Pay: $22.00 - $35.00 per hour
