Overview:

Join our compassionate team as an End of Life Pet Caregiver, where your dedication and gentle touch will provide comfort, care and dignity to our beloved senior dogs during their final moments. This vital role offers a meaningful opportunity to ensure our animals receive loving, respectful care in a peaceful environment. You will be instrumental in creating a calm, supportive atmosphere while delivering exceptional pet care services.

Shifts Available: PM shifts will be filled first.

6:00 AM – 1:30 PM
1:30 PM – 9:00 PM
Please Note: We are not open to the public. Do NOT arrive at the sanctuary without a scheduled appointment.

About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and dependable Care Specialist to join our team at Whispering Willows, where we provide hospice care and support for seniors with special needs. This is a deeply meaningful, hands-on role focused on ensuring each animal receives comfort, dignity, and exceptional care.
The ideal candidate will be patient, observant, kind-hearted, and detail-oriented, with a genuine love for animals and the ability to stay organized in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Provide daily care including feeding, walking, enrichment, and companionship
Administer medications and follow prescribed treatment plans
Maintain a clean, safe, and calm environment
Monitor animals closely and report any health or behavior changes immediately
Assist with light grooming such as brushing, bathing, and cleaning eyes/ears
Support safe movement and lifting of pets when needed (ability to lift 30 pounds is a must)
Stay active and on your feet for the full shift
Work one weekend shift per week and holiday shifts are required

Qualifications

Experience with animals preferred but not required — we will train the right person
Strong communication skills
Ability to confidently and safely manage multiple animals
Compassionate, patient, and dedicated to high-quality care
Able to stand, bend, and lift throughout the shift
High School Diploma or GED
Self-motivated and able to complete task lists independently in a fast-paced setting
