POSITION TITLE : Mental Health Technician - Lead

LOCATION : Human Services - Oshkosh

HIRING RANGE : $22.93 - $25.48/Hr.

STATUS : Full Time

HOURS PER WEEK : 40

WORK HOURS : Rotating every 3rd weekend (12pm - 8pm) and week days (10am - 6:30pm) with flexibility

DEPARTMENT : Human Services – Behavioral Health Services

PAY BASIS : Hourly

PURPOSE AND SUMMARY :

To function in a complimentary role to the Community Services Supervisor in ensuring that all Mental Health Technician (MHT) contacts with Community Support Program (CSP), Comprehensive Community Services (CCS), and other Winnebago County clients are scheduled and the scheduled services are delivered.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

1. Creates and maintains weekly schedule for Mental Health Technicians. Coordinates requests of case managers, crisis workers, SUD counselor, and therapists. Finds replacements or adjusts schedule for absent Mental Health Technicians.
2. Assists consumers with activities of daily living services in community based settings. Assists the consumer to gain or utilize skills required to: carry out personal hygiene and grooming tasks; perform household activities of cleaning, grocery shopping, and laundry; develop or improve money management skills; and use available transportation. Provides individualized support, problem solving, training, and supervision. These services may be provided to clients serviced by the CSP, CCS, Oshkosh Case Management Team, Therapy Team, Crisis or SUD.
3. In conjunction with the Community Services Supervisor ensures that all psychosocial rehabilitation contacts by Mental Health Technicians are provided as scheduled or as needs arise on one of the behavioral health teams. Provides feedback to Community Services Supervisor about any performance related matters.

ADDITIONAL ESSENTIAL DUTIES :

1. Attends team meetings in Neenah and Oshkosh on a regular basis to coordinate with case managers to schedule clients in the MHT schedule and address client needs and client related issues.
2. Fills in for absent Mental Health Technicians when necessary.
3. Provides assistance with activities in a variety of community settings to enhance the individual adjustment of clients to the community, including social, vocational, and therapeutic groups.
4. Provides work-related support services for the clients such as assisting with grooming, appropriate clothing, wake-up calls, and giving on the job support and crisis assistance as needed.
5. Provides social and recreational skill training and modeling to clients to improve their communication skills, facilitate appropriate interpersonal behavior, and become familiar with available community resources.
6. Delivers packaged medications to clients during weekday or evening hours. Monitors and reports any changes and/or side effects, as a result of taking medications to the appropriate Supervisor or Case Manager.
7. Ensures the follow through of encompassing treatment programs to enable clients of the case management programs to be integrated into the community.
8. Ensures that clients are treated with dignity and respect.
9. Ensures that client confidentiality is maintained.
10. Applies Trauma Informed Care principles and practices, with a strong commitment to fostering a positive, healthy work culture.
11. Performs other related duties as may be assigned.

WORK RELATIONSHIPS :

1. Reports to Community Services Supervisor.
2. Works with all case management, crisis, SUD and therapy teams within behavioral health.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, AND CERTIFICATION :

1. High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services related field or Behavioral Science is preferred.
2. Experience working with persons with severe and persistent illness in a community setting or experience providing in-home services to persons with disabilities.
3. Experience in scheduling or supervision is preferred.
4. Ability to move freely in the community.
5. Possess current valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle to perform required work duties.
6. Must provide evidence of meeting or exceeding the minimum automobile liability insurance requirements contained in the Winnebago County Travel Ordinance.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :

1. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients and co-workers.
2. Must be well organized and able to manage multiple work responsibilities, effectively respond to crises, and have good follow through with assignments.
3. Must be able to work independently and use good judgement while functioning well as part of a team.
4. Ability to maintain client and program confidentiality.
5. Working knowledge and understanding of Trauma Informed Care preferred.
6. Ability to effectively address and resolve conflict and to manage stress in a professional manner.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

1. Ability to access second floors in private homes in order to deliver medications and provide other services to clients.
2. Ability to perform work from a sedentary position, sit for extended periods of time, ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
3. Ability to function in situations encountered in a normal office setting.
4. Ability to use standard office equipment including telephone, computer, printer, photocopier, and scanner.
5. Ability to travel to other County departments and locations.
6. Must provide evidence of meeting or exceeding the minimum automobile liability insurance requirements contained in the Winnebago County Travel Ordinance.
