The Role at a Glance
This role is designed for a proven Security Sales Engineer/Project Planner with a depth of system design and project planning experience this role is for you. The right candidate will bring a daily commitment to delivering the highest level of customer satisfaction by driving project efficiency through quality system design, clear communication, accountability, and the ability to unify teams to complete established project goals on target and on time, from inception of system design through lifecycle of project. As a point of contact, you will serve as the bridge between stakeholder expectations and field execution — translating project requirements into actionable plans, managing timelines, and ensuring every deliverable meets quality standards. Project Leadership Responsibilities
As Sales Engineer/Project Planner, you will participate in the complete lifecycle of every project — from initial scope definition through final delivery. Your role demands both strategic oversight and hands-on coordination in the field.
Scope & Goal Setting: Establish and communicate project installation goals with your team. Define project scope in collaboration with the client, team, and stakeholders to ensure alignment from day one.
On-time, On-target: oversee project timelines with precision. Daily evaluate project issues and resolve them proactively to keep projects on schedule and on budget.
Quality Assurance: Provide daily analysis and reporting, regularly assessing that completed work meets client expectations and established project objectives. Review quality of work on site and update project progress to management.
Client Communication: Successfully communicate with clients to understand their unique requirements and objectives, serving as an important part of the client success team throughout the project lifecycle.
Budget & Resource Oversight
Financial Accountability: You will assist in developing project budgets, track expenditures, and audit labor and materials regularly throughout the project lifecycle to ensure all expenses remain on track. This includes providing timely change orders and progress billing instructions to accounting, ensuring financial transparency and accountability at every stage of the project.
Resource Management: Strategically utilize the resources of people, time, and materials. Efficiently schedule and assign labor to maximize output and minimize project overruns — keeping every project moving forward without unnecessary delays or cost overruns.
Subcontractor Coordination: Coordinate with subcontractors in the field to ensure successful execution of project goals, maintaining quality standards and schedule adherence across all teams involved.
Team Collaboration & Daily Operations
Great Sales Engineer/Project Planners inspire their teams to collaborate to achieve best outcomes. You will be responsible for unifying your team around a shared goal, communicating daily scope of work, and staying accountable to the standard PSLA Security is known for.
Daily Team Direction: Daily project communication and collaboration, articulating scope of work and expectations clearly to technicians, stakeholders, sub-contractors.
Field Quality Reviews: Conduct regular on-site quality reviews to ensure work meets specifications and client standards before sign-off.
Progress Reporting: Update management on project progress, flagging risks and opportunities early to maintain transparency and trust.
Subcontractor Management: Coordinate with subcontractors in the field to ensure seamless execution and alignment with project goals.
Required Qualifications
We're looking for a candidate with proven, hands-on experience in the low-voltage security industry — someone who can step in and drive project success from day one.
3+ Years Sales Engineer/Project Planning: designing, and coordinating complex projects specifically in the low-voltage electrical and security systems industry.
Technical Expertise: Expert understanding of low-voltage electrical systems, access control, CCTV, and security technologies. Ability to interpret plans and create schematic drawings and mark-ups.
Valid Driver's License: Must have a current, valid driver's license and a clean driving record for field travel and site visits and the ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
Skills & Competencies
Beyond technical knowledge, this role requires a well-rounded professional who can lead teams, communicate with clients, and solve problems under pressure.
Leadership: Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to guide teams and manage client relationships effectively.
Computer Literacy: Proficient with Microsoft Office and the ability to use the internet for research, documentation, and project tracking.
System Design: experience designing security systems
Blueprint Reading: Ability to interpret architectural and electrical plans and create schematic drawings and mark-ups for field teams.
Problem Solving: Daily evaluation of project issues with the ability to resolve challenges quickly to keep projects on schedule and on budget.
