Role Description The Associate Attorney will work on a full-time, on-site basis in Paducah, KY, supporting a broad range of civil practice areas. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, contracts, and other legal documents, and providing clear, well-founded legal advice to clients under the supervision of senior attorneys. The role involves participating in client meetings, assisting with case strategy, preparing for and attending hearings, depositions, and mediations, and supporting negotiations and settlement discussions. The Associate Attorney will collaborate closely with partners and colleagues, manage assigned case files, track deadlines, and ensure compliance with firm and court procedures. The position offers exposure to diverse matters, with opportunities to develop specialized expertise and grow into increased responsibility over time.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active license, or eligibility for licensure, to practice law in Kentucky, Illinois, or Tennessee.
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills, with the ability to identify issues, develop practical solutions, and effectively advocate for clients.
- Ability to manage multiple matters, work collaboratively with attorneys and staff, and adapt to a broad range of legal and business issues across the firm's practice areas.
- Ability to provide practical, client-focused Legal Advice grounded in sound judgment and ethical standards.
- Proficient in legal Research, including use of electronic research tools and efficient synthesis of complex information.
- Effective Negotiation skills, with the capacity to advocate for clients in settlement discussions, mediations, and other forums.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including clear drafting, professional correspondence, and courtroom presence.
- Ability to manage multiple matters, meet deadlines, work collaboratively within a team, and maintain attention to detail.
- Prior experience in civil litigation, business law
