8th Grade Science Teacher

Position Summary
The 8th Grade Science Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering high-quality science instruction aligned with Florida B.E.S.T. Standards and the Florida State Science Standards. The teacher will create engaging, inquiry-based lessons that promote scientific reasoning, problem-solving, collaboration, and real-world application of scientific concepts while maintaining a positive and supportive learning environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging science lessons aligned with Florida State Science Standards.
- Teach core concepts including physical science, life science, Earth and space science, and scientific inquiry.
- Design and facilitate hands-on laboratory activities and experiments that reinforce scientific concepts while promoting safe laboratory practices.
- Foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills through inquiry-based instruction.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic needs of all learners.
- Utilize formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and guide instructional planning.
- Integrate technology, STEM activities, and real-world applications into daily instruction.
- Create and maintain a safe, organized, and engaging classroom and laboratory environment.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, assessments, and student progress.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student achievement and classroom expectations.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers, administrators, and support staff to promote student success.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, school events, and other assigned responsibilities.
- Uphold school policies while maintaining high expectations for student achievement, safety, and behavior.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Valid Florida Educator Certificate or eligibility for certification.
- Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Passion for teaching middle school students and making science engaging and accessible.
Preferred Qualifications
- Middle Grades Science certification or certification in a science-related field.
- Experience teaching middle school science.
- Knowledge of Florida State Science Standards and inquiry-based instructional practices.
- Experience with STEM education, laboratory instruction, and educational technology.
- Ability to analyze student data to drive instructional decisions.
Salary: Follows Palm Beach County School District salary scale and referendum.
