Position Summary
The Shipping and Receiving Supervisor is responsible for leading a team to successfully meet and exceed all expectations, KPIs and adherence to company policies by assigning work, monitor progress, confirm accurate and timely completion of tasks.
Core responsibilities include:
Team leadership – Train, schedule and evaluate department staff. Assign daily tasks and manage labor to meet business demands. Measure performance to KPIs. Adherence to all policies and procedures as per the employee handbook. Effectively manage a team that resides in 2 separate locations; this includes balancing staff based on workload, talent and priorities
Order processing – Oversee the pick, pack, label and document creation of outgoing shipments to ensure required criteria is met for customers and carriers, vendors and any other recipients. This includes documents such as packing lists and bills of laden.
Logistics and Carrier Management – Manage the Logistics Coordinator and Shipping team to coordinate inhouse driver, common carriers (UPS/FedEx), freight, pick ups. Create driver routes, dispatch parameters and policies. Fleet management.
Inventory and Quality Control – manage the accuracy of transactions for inventory levels, inventory adjustments due to additions and depletions, cycle counts and physical audits.
Collaboration with Other Departments – Maintains a harmonious and collaborative relation with all department. Communicates with Customer Service on shipments and all applicable departments on receivings.
Safety and Compliance – Enforce safety regulations such as forklift operation and maintain a clean, organized work environment
The role requires strong critical thinking, floor presence, communication skills, and the ability to make real-time operational decisions to ensure transactions take place efficiently through the shipping and receiving operations.
Key requirements and qualifications
Experience – 1 to 2 years of hands-on experience in a warehouse environment, distribution or logistics, often with prior leadership experience, dispatching and drivers’ route building
Technical Skills – Proficiency with warehouse management systems (WMS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and advance Excel
Physical Capabilities – Ability to lift heavy packages (up to 50 lbs), stand/walk for long periods, and operate a fork lift or pallet jack
Soft skills – Strong problem-solving, multi tasking, and communication skills to collaborate with Customer Service, Quality Control, Production, and Carriers
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
