PRN MRI/CT Technologist

This is a PRN position with rotating hours dependent on departmental needs. We are looking for a skilled MRI/CT Technologist who is reliable, has strong interpersonal skills, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced hospital environment with a focus on orthopedic and neurosurgical care.

Responsibilities
- Perform MRI and CT imaging procedures while providing the highest quality diagnostic examinations possible.
- Prepare, organize, and operate MRI and CT equipment accurately and safely for scheduled examinations.
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of anatomy, medical and surgical conditions, and scientific principles as they apply to MRI and CT imaging.
- Demonstrate the knowledge and technical skills necessary to identify abnormalities and physiological processes while performing diagnostic imaging procedures.
- Use initiative and professional judgment to obtain additional scans, views, or adjust technical factors as needed to provide the radiologist with the information necessary for an accurate diagnosis.
- Complete and accurately document patient information, examinations, contrast administration, and other required procedure information.
- Demonstrate sound judgment and adaptability when selecting technical procedures and operating imaging equipment based on individual patient needs.
- Properly screen patients prior to MRI procedures for implants, devices, ferromagnetic objects, and other potential MRI safety concerns.
- Follow established safety protocols for MRI, CT, radiation exposure, and contrast administration.
- Monitor patients throughout imaging procedures and assist physicians, radiologists, and nursing staff with patient care as needed.
- Assist with patient positioning and transfers as necessary while maintaining patient safety and comfort.
- Perform necessary clerical duties related to imaging procedures, including obtaining previous reports, images, and other patient information.
- Maintain imaging equipment, supplies, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized manner.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
- Current ARRT certification required.
- MRI certification required.
- CT certification preferred.
- Current BLS certification required.
- One (1) year of MRI and/or CT experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledgeable in the care, handling, operation, and safety requirements of MRI and CT equipment and supplies.
- Strong understanding of anatomy, medical conditions, and imaging procedures necessary to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
- Knowledge of MRI safety practices, including appropriate patient screening and identification of potential contraindications.
- Knowledge of radiation safety principles and the ability to apply ALARA practices when performing CT examinations.
- Demonstrate appropriate knowledge and skills related to the needs of various age groups, including adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
- Ability to recognize changes in a patient's condition and respond appropriately.
- Knowledge of basic BLS principles and hospital policies and procedures related to emergency and cardiac arrest situations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with patients, physicians, radiologists, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, and adapt to changing departmental needs.
