How you’ll contribute
The ITS Supervisor provides frontline leadership and day-to-day operational coordination for the facility ITS support team, serving as the primary bridge between frontline technical staff and the ITS Leader. This role is responsible for work assignment, queue management, service level oversight, and the ongoing development of ITS support personnel. The ITS Supervisor ensures that the team delivers consistent, responsive technical support to clinical and operational staff, maintains accurate ITSM documentation, and operates in alignment with enterprise standards and regulatory requirements. This role may also provide direct hands-on technical support as operational needs require.
Essential Functions:
Team Supervision & Workload Management
Supervise the day-to-day operations of the facility ITS support team, including work assignments, scheduling, and on-call or after-hours coverage planning.
Monitor the enterprise ITSM ticket queue; assign and prioritize incidents and service requests across team members to ensure timely resolution in accordance with service level agreements.
Serve as the primary escalation point for technical issues that exceed individual staff capability or require cross-functional coordination.
Communicate team capacity, workload trends, and emerging resource needs to the ITS Leader on an ongoing basis.
May also provide direct hands-on technical support during periods of high demand, staff absence, or complex incident response.
Staff Development & Performance Management
Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance guidance to ITS support staff through regular one-on-ones and direct observation.
Participate in performance evaluations, goal-setting, and corrective action processes in partnership with the ITS Leader and Human Resources.
Identify skills gaps and coordinate onboarding, training, and professional development activities to build team capability.
Foster a collaborative, customer-focused team culture aligned with enterprise ITS service values and behavioral standards.
Service Quality & Continuous Improvement
Monitor service quality and SLA adherence across the team; identify and address patterns indicative of recurring issues, systemic process gaps, or individual performance concerns.
Ensure all incidents, service requests, and resolutions are documented accurately and completely in the enterprise ITSM platform.
Review ticket trends and communicate findings, root cause summaries, and improvement recommendations to the ITS Leader.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures and knowledge base content for common support scenarios.
Infrastructure & Project Support
Coordinate team participation in infrastructure projects, workstation deployments, equipment refresh cycles, and technology go-live events as directed by the ITS Leader.
Support facility-level IT initiatives including system upgrades, security remediation, and audit-related activities; perform other duties as assigned.
Compliance & Regulatory
Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH) in the handling of protected health information and technology systems.
Ensure team adherence to enterprise change management, incident management, and information security processes and policies.
QUALIFICATION, EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.
EDUCATION:
Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
3–5 years of experience in IT support, help desk, or desktop support environment required.
1–2 years of supervisory, team lead, or senior ITS technician experience required.
Healthcare IT experience preferred.
Familiarity with enterprise ITSM platforms, Active Directory, and Windows desktop environments required.
Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop a small technical team in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
Working knowledge of IT support operations, including endpoint hardware and software, network fundamentals, and service desk practices.
Strong organizational and prioritization skills; ability to manage team workload across competing demands and adjust assignments dynamically.
Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to engage clinical and operational stakeholders, frontline staff, and the ITS Leader with equal effectiveness.
Ability to identify service delivery gaps, support root cause analysis, and implement practical corrective measures.
Familiarity with ITSM ticketing systems and service level management practices.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE:
CompTIA A+ or equivalent industry certification preferred.
