Full Job Description

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Wellness Director, the Medication Technician provides direct resident care and performs medication‑related duties. This position supports resident dignity, privacy, choice, and independence while promoting the community’s aging‑in‑place philosophy. All duties are performed in accordance with individual care plans, facility policies, professional standards, and applicable state and federal regulations.

Essential Functions

§ Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, continence care, and hygiene, in accordance with care plans.

§ Assist residents to and from meals and provide mealtime support as needed.

§ Monitor and record vital signs as assigned and report changes in resident condition to wellness leadership or nursing staff.

§ Maintain open, effective communication between shifts and promptly report concerns or changes in condition.

§ Assist dietary services with beverage service, meal setup, table clearing, and in room dining support as needed.

§ Support residents with personal laundry, bed making, linen changes, trash removal, and maintaining a clean and safe living environment.

§ Accurately and timely document care provided and observations in accordance with policy and regulatory requirements.

§ Complete treatments and clinical support tasks as ordered and within scope of practice.

§ Maintain clean, organized work areas and stock supplies as necessary.

Medication Technician–Specific Functions

§ Administer or assist with medications only as trained, authorized, and permitted by credential, delegation, and regulation.

§ Adhere to the Five Rights of Medication Administration (right resident, medication, dose, time, route) for each medication pass.

§ Observe residents for medication effects and adverse reactions and report concerns promptly to licensed staff.

§ Document medication administration accurately and record reasons for medications not administered.

§ Assist with receiving, restocking, inventorying, and properly storing medications per policy.

§ Maintain medication carts and stations, including sanitation and removal of expired or discontinued medications.

§ Respond to falls and incidents within scope of practice, notify appropriate leadership, complete required documentation, and assist with family communication as directed.

§ May function as shift lead when assigned, including overseeing caregivers, managing communications, and responding to staffing issues.

§ Perform other duties as assigned consistent with resident care needs and organizational policy.

Licenses & Certifications

§ Must complete/have completed Idaho‑approved Assistance with Medications training in accordance with applicable regulations (Med Tech Cert.)

§ The Assistance with Medications certificate does not expire, is not renewed, and is not maintained on a state registry. Once successfully completed, the certificate remains valid and may be used for nurse‑delegated medication assistance.

§ Medication assistance is performed only under Registered Nurse (RN) delegation and oversight and within the scope permitted by delegation.

§ Valid CPR certificate

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
