Full Job Description

Do you love your job as a medical Sonographer? Have you ever contemplated teaching as a next step in your career? If so, the Center for Ultrasound Research and Education (CURE) would like to speak to you.

CURE is a two year career school, licensed by the New York State Education Department and Accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) recognized as an accrediting agency by the United States Department of Education.

CURE provides hands on training to students interested in learning General, Vascular and Cardiac Sonography and is actively hiring registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographers interested in teaching the next generation of technologists.

CURE offers a competitive salary and pays for all teacher training and licensure fees, Teachers receive structured training for all new teaching staff.

All Applicants must have a minimum of 3 years experience working as an ultrasound technologist. Externship experience does not count toward the three year requirement.

OVERVIEW:

The DMS Instructor is responsible for instructing and assessing didactic and clinical courses in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program. Instructors provide an effective learning environment for students through well prepared classes, relevant assignments, fair and holistic assessment of learning, clear documentation of student progress, and support of academic success for at-risk students. The faculty instruct, evaluate, and observe students in the skills lab and provide quality instruction in adherence with CURE's New York State approved curriculum.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

Teach students in assigned classes in accordance with course descriptions and/or learning outcomes, the course syllabus, and institutional policies and procedures
Incorporate various teaching methods in the classroom to engage and teach students
Certify student attendance in classes by the established deadlines
Maintain accurate and complete course records
Submit final grades by the established deadlines
Communicate with and provide feedback to students in a timely fashion
Evaluate and assess student learning on a regular basis in all classes taught
Maintain any required professional certification or licensure in the appropriate academic or technical discipline, where appropriate
Remain current with technological and pedagogical advances that promote continuous improvement of student learning
Participate in a variety of professional development activities
Attend required commencement/graduation ceremonies
Perform other duties in consultation with Program Director

LAB DUTIES:

Produce images by setting up ultrasound equipment, operating and adjusting equipment, recording data and measurements, protecting and helping students.
Reduce student anxieties by explaining procedures, answering questions and providing assistance.
Prepare students by demonstrating patient positioning, applying gel and adjusting equipment controls.
Protect students by adhering to safety policies and protocols.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must possess registry credentials from ARDMS, CCI or ARRT in one or more of the following specialties: RDMS, RDCS, RVT, RCS, RVS
A minimum of three (5) years clinical work experience - Externship expereience does not count toward years of actual work experience.
Must possess the minimum of a High School Diploma, or an Associate’s degree degree or higher (preferred) from an accredited agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education

This is not a remote opportunity. On campus assignment (Monday, Wednesday and Friday).

Pay: $55.00 - $60.00 per hour
