ABOUT THE ROLE
We're looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented Machine Operator Fabricator (Prototype Technician) to join our Engineering team and play a key role in bringing innovative product ideas to life. Working across our award-winning brands, DENALI Electronics, Vision X Lighting, and NARVA, you'll help transform concepts into production-representative prototypes that support the development of industry-leading solutions for the automotive and powersports markets.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working with machinery, fabrication processes, and prototype development in a fast-paced product innovation environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manufacture rapid prototypes, representative of production quality, that are quickly fitted to vehicles for design iteration, fitment verification, and application photography/videography
- Operate CNC Laser Cutter to produce flat patterns in preparation for bending.
- Perform operations on drill press / mini mill
- Perform CNC Press Brake metal forming
- Weld assemblies prior to powder coating or other finishing operations
- Finishing preparations such as deburring, grinding, and sanding
- Conduct surface finishing with paint and powder coating
- Accurately interpret 2D engineering drawings (Assembly and Part)
- Assemble manufactured components, with a variety of hardware, to complete the finished assembly
- Procure and manage prototyping consumables such as sheet metal, hardware, and machine and welding consumables
- Perform scheduling and logging of all machine maintenance
- Conduct all machine maintenance that does not require specialty or certified services
- Schedule and coordinate vendor services for specialty/certified maintenance.
- Generate and manage necessary files for manufacturing, such as .step and .dxf
- Work closely with the Engineering Team to consult on Design for Manufacturing (DMF) and Engineering Best Practices.
- Author and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the equipment and operations that are under their stewardship.
- Support internal design reviews by providing feedback from the perspective of manufacturing partners.
- Research and propose alternate and creative prototyping capabilities and practices, preceding formal quotation and budget proposal.
- Have ownership of manufacturing safety practices by identifying safety risks, risk mitigation and corrective action implementation.
- Maintain a clean and organized prototyping operation
- Organize and maintain assigned project tasks in the organization’s project management tool, Wrike.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of manufacturing or prototyping job experience
- Intimate knowledge and discipline with CNC machine operation and general shop equipment
- Experience manufacturing components and assemblies that have high cosmetic standards.
- Experience with Powder Coating (Preparation/Spray/Baking)
- Strong project management skills and extreme attention to detail

Pay: $27.00 - $33.00 per hour
