Full-Time Director of Clinical Services

Athens Pregnancy Center / Compass Women’s Clinic

Compass Women’s Clinic (CWC) is seeking a Director of Clinical Services to help lead a team that's committed to compassionate, evidence-based care for women in our community. This role oversees and coordinates all CWC staff and operations by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors and employees, in accordance with the ANA Code of Ethics, except where there is a conflict with our Statement of Faith, in which case the APC Statement of Faith will prevail.

This role is about more than clinical leadership. It's about creating a space where every woman feels seen, informed, and supported as she navigates one of life's biggest decisions.

Primary Relationships: This position is an integral member of the APC Executive Leadership Team and directly accountable to the Executive Director, with further guidance provided by the Medical Director, Medical Executive Committee and the Board of Directors regarding medical clinic operations.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Ensures compliance with Medical By Laws, Medical Policies & Procedures and standing orders. Oversees all medical staff/volunteers in the clinic. DCS carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include assisting with interviewing medical staff/volunteers and training personnel; scheduling, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding employees; addressing clinic complaints and resolving issues.

Education and/or Experience

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in nursing from a four-year College or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred: Managerial, supervision, and clinic operations experience preferred. Women’s Health Experience preferred. Certification from a recognized Ultrasound Training Program based on AWHONN guidelines is preferred and can be completed post-hire at the Executive Director's direction.

Be able to provide spiritual discernment, leadership, discipleship, and support to staff and clientele.
Maintain an active and unencumbered professional license.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Assists with recruiting qualified licensed healthcare providers to meet the needs of the patients and the clinic.
Assists with interviews and orientation of new medical personnel.
Monitors training and continuing education for Medical Staff and works closely with Human Resources to ensure all credentialing and privileging is consistently in place.
Coordinates activities and the work assignments of medical personnel
Evaluates activities of the medical clinic to ensure timely, professional and quality patient care, personnel relations, and the overall efficiency of medical services provided.
Directs the clinical assessment of all patients
Oversees all clinical care and patient visits to ensure that medical care is carried out as directed and treatment is administered in accordance with CWC Policies and Procedures and the Medical Director's standing orders
Works in conjunction with the physician(s), nurses and medical consultants, and social worker to assure that patients are receiving the best medical, nursing and psychosocial care possible
Maintains a working knowledge of state and federal law as pertinent to PMC setting and services.
Maintains a working knowledge of nursing methods, principles and practices in relation to the prevention and treatment of disease, safety and infection control, clinical systems, supplies and equipment
Develops, implements, and evaluates with the Executive Director the medical department's policies, goals, and objectives.
Participates in the development and modifications of the organization's medical services
Functions as the Infection Control Officer for CWC & APC.
Participates in infection control and quality assessment activities and analysis
Interprets and enforces clinic and organizational policies
Leads the Medical Executive Committee meetings by scheduling, creating agendas and facilitating the meeting.
Participates in and leads CWC team meetings and appropriate department committees
Directs the preparation and maintenance of patients' clinical records with medical staff.
Conducts chart audits in accordance with established protocols
Attends Medical Conferences that offer professional training and information pertinent to the clinic’s practices
Builds relationships with lead medical staff in other PMC settings through established cohorts or individual relationships.
Oversees and inspects the clinic environment and equipment for patient comfort and efficiency of use
Assists Executive Director with cost analysis regarding systems, inventory and vendors as appropriate.
Oversees and delegates or directs orders of medical and office inventory
Audits appropriate Medical Logs to ensure completeness
Investigates and resolves complaints, or refers unusual problems to the Executive Director and/or Medical Director
Functions as the Privacy Officer in regards to clinical service provision areas. ED functions in this role in regards to organizational/HR areas.
Provide front and back-office services as necessary in the absence of staff.
Meets regularly with the Executive Team, All Staff and CWC Staff.
Attends annual Executive Training, Retreats, and/or conferences as approved by the Executive Director.
Attends APC fundraising events.
Attends community networking and/or speaking opportunities as approved and directed by Executive Director.
