The Extraction Technician is responsible for performing extraction and refinement processes for cannabis products, working within the lab team to produce Revolution's line of high-quality concentrates. This role requires a strong focus on process adherence, quality control, lab safety and compliance protocols, and consistent output. Core competencies that will lead to success in this dynamic role include precision and accuracy in executing procedures, problem solving skills, time management, and adaptability. The Extraction Technician will work closely with and report to the Lab Supervisor to ensure that all processes align with Revolution Cannabis' high standards for quality and efficiency.
Essential Functions
Extraction Process Execution
- Operate and maintain extraction equipment, including carbon dioxide (CO2), hydrocarbon, ethanol, and solventless extraction systems.
- Execute precise extraction and post-processing techniques (winterization, filtration, decarboxylation) to produce cannabis concentrates and ensure consistent product quality.
A Accurately follow SOPs and batch records during every stage of extraction to ensure standardized production and avoid deviation from established procedures.
Quality Control and Documentation

Adhere to quality standards by implementing in-process testing and following quality control protocols.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation for each step in the production process, including logging metrics such as yields, temperatures, pressures, and other critical factors.
- Monitor for any deviations or inconsistencies, notifying the Lab Supervisor immediately and assisting in troubleshooting to rectify issues quickly.
Lab Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting
- Perform routine cleaning, calibration, and preventative maintenance on extraction equipment, ensuring all machinery is in optimal working condition.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and assist with repairs as necessary to minimize downtime and ensure smooth operation.
- Safely handle, transport, and store solvents and raw materials, ensuring compliance with all OSHA and cannabis-industry-specific safety regulations.
Compliance and Safety
- Adhere to all state and local regulations governing cannabis processing and extraction, as well as OSHA and company-specific safety standards.
Use appropriate PPE and follow safety protocols, including spill prevention and hazardous waste management procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring safe conditions for oneself and coworkers.
- Work closely with other extraction technicians and lab personnel to coordinate daily workflows and production schedule.
C Communicate effectively with the Lab Supervisor and Manager regarding production goals, ongoing projects, and any challenges encountered.
- Contribute to a positive team environment, sharing knowledge and assisting team members as necessary.
Minimum Education/Experience:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience in a lab environment, especially within cannabis extraction, food production, or pharmaceuticals, is highly desirable
Required or Preferred Skills, Abilities, Licensures and Certifications:
- Familiarity with cannabis extraction techniques and equipment is preferred.
- Ability to follow complex SOPs with attention to detail is essential.
- Basic understanding of cannabis chemistry, including constituents such as cannabinoids, terpenes, and common contaminants.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Any relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA, cGMP, or similar) are a plus.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
- Must possess valid state ID.
- Must be able to obtain, and maintain, state badging requirements in order to work in in cannabis industry (requires background check and state review).

Must be able to wear appropriate PPE including respirators, gloves, Tyvek suits, and eye protection.

Work in varying environmental conditions including high humidity, fluctuating temperatures, and exposure to fertilizers and cleaning chemicals.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive bending, reaching, and kneeling tasks.

Frequent standing, walking, and climbing stairs; occasionally working in confined spaces.

Must be able to wear full PPE and perform tasks safely under those conditions.

Visual acuity and fine motor skills required for reading instruments, inspecting equipment, and recording data.

Work Schedule:
- 40+ hours weekly with flexible hours depending on department needs.
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends, as required by production schedules.
- Must be available to work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays.
