Full Job Description

Location: Petaluma, California (Office/Hybrid)
Compensation: $36 - $44/hour (negotiable based on experience)

Spheros Environmental, a leading environmental consulting firm, is seeking a full-time Systems Administrator II with at least four years of experience based out of our Petaluma, California office. The Systems Administrator II is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing IT systems and infrastructure to ensure reliability, security, and performance. This role involves installing, configuring, and troubleshooting hardware, software, servers, and network systems along with managing Microsoft 365 tasks. The Systems Administrator II provides advanced technical support, monitors system health, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to implement IT solutions that meet business needs.

Key Responsibilities

Advanced understanding of technology related concepts, principles, systems and processes used.
Provide change management guidance. Educate all staff on how to resolve support issues in the future. Handle escalation of issues and researching/developing solutions. Identifying patterns and handle high-level problem solving.
Assist with software and/or server upgrades. Supports highly available systems both internal and with Microsoft 365.
Manage Microsoft 365 services for staff and bring recommendations based on previous system management to IT team. Configure systems and applications as needed. Monitor and test fixes to ensure issues/problems have been adequately resolved. Document and communicate effectively to those impacted and provide timely updates to leadership.
Assist with presenting new technologies to leadership for implementation and/or consideration.
Help develop processes and procedures.
Ensures company assets have proper cyber security software installed and troubleshoots if there are minor issues.
Other ad hoc duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience: 4-6 years of experience.
Education: Bachelor's degree or advanced technical certification.
Microsoft 365 Suite, Server and PC hardware/software experience required.
Presents and expresses ideas and information clearly, concisely, and effectively orally and in writing.
Positive can-do attitude.
Works well independently and as part of a team.
Identifies when immediate action is needed, and is willing to make decisions, render judgments, and take action.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships among team members and clients.
Sets realistic time frames for goals and follows up.
Identifies existing and potential problems; finds root causes; and selects a course of action for resolution.
Is aware of, responds to, and considers the needs, points of views, and capabilities of others.
