Full Job Description

Overview

The Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for leading the organization's procurement and supplier management activities to support operational excellence, profitability, and business growth. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this position develops and executes sourcing strategies, negotiates supplier agreements, manages purchasing personnel, and drives continuous improvement in cost, quality, delivery, and supplier performance. This role oversees the overall operations of the Purchasing Department, providing leadership, mentorship, and direction to purchasing staff while ensuring procurement strategies and daily activities align with company objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and execute sourcing strategies that optimize cost, quality, delivery, and supplier performance.
Negotiate pricing, contracts, and commercial terms with suppliers to maximize value and reduce total cost of ownership.
Identify and implement cost reduction, cost avoidance, and value engineering opportunities.
Monitor market conditions and supplier trends that may impact on cost, availability, or lead times.
Develop strong supplier partnerships and lead supplier performance reviews.
Identify and mitigate supplier and supply chain risks to ensure business continuity.
Oversee purchasing activities to ensure material availability meets production and customer requirements.
Balance inventory investment, lead times, service levels, and procurement costs.
Manage inbound and outbound freight compliance, costs, and vendor relationships associated with domestic and international operations.
Track and communicate cost savings, cost avoidance, and material cost inflation.
Serve as the primary resource for sourcing data, spend analysis, and procurement reporting.
Oversee the daily operations of the Purchasing Department to ensure efficient, accurate, and timely procurement activities.
Direct and coordinate purchasing activities, policies, and procedures to optimize department performance and service levels.
Lead, coach, and develop purchasing personnel to achieve department and company objectives.
Mentor purchasing department staff members by providing guidance, sharing best practices, and supporting their success in achieving departmental goals.
Establish performance goals, monitor progress, and provide ongoing feedback and performance management.
Collaborate cross-functional with Finance, Operations, Sales, and Engineering.

Technical Skills

Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP Business One.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills which should include reporting, analysis, and forecasting.
Experience with business intelligence, reporting, and procurement analytics tools preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, or related field.
7+ years of purchasing, procurement, or strategic sourcing experience in a manufacturing environment.
Previous experience leading, mentoring, or supervising procurement personnel.
Demonstrated success negotiating supplier contracts and managing vendor relationships.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Pay: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
