Full Job Description

Public Adjuster – Property & Casualty Claims

Compensation: $60,000–$80,000 annually, based on experience, plus commission

We are seeking an experienced Pennsylvania-Licensed Public Adjuster to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background handling property and casualty claims, extensive experience preparing estimates using Xactimate, excellent communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to independently manage claims from initial assessment through resolution.

This position requires someone who is organized, responsive, professional, and comfortable communicating with insureds, insurance carriers, adjusters, contractors, experts, and other parties involved in the claims process.

Responsibilities

Manage property and casualty insurance claims from initial assignment through settlement.
Inspect and assess property damage and develop an appropriate scope of loss.
Prepare detailed and accurate property damage estimates using Xactimate.
Review and analyze carrier estimates
Review insurance policies, estimates, reports, photographs, invoices, and other claim documentation.
Identify coverage and scope issues and understand how applicable policy provisions relate to the claimed damages.
Prepare, review, present, and negotiate estimates and claim documentation with insurance carriers and their representatives.
Communicate professionally and effectively with clients, contractors, experts, attorneys, and other involved parties.
Maintain accurate claim files, documentation, notes, correspondence, and follow-up schedules.
Follow up with insurance carriers and other parties in a timely and persistent manner to keep claims progressing.
Advocate for policyholders while maintaining professional and productive working relationships with carrier representatives.
Manage an assigned caseload and prioritize deadlines without requiring constant supervision.
Travel to properties and claim-related appointments as necessary.

Required Qualifications

Current and valid Pennsylvania Public Adjuster license.
Minimum of 3 years of claims-handling experience specifically involving Property & Casualty insurance claims.
Ability to independently scope a property loss and translate observed damages into a complete and accurate Xactimate estimate.
Ability to review carrier estimates and recognize omitted, incorrect, or improperly scoped repairs.
Strong knowledge of the insurance claims process and property damage evaluation.
Ability to independently inspect, document, evaluate, and manage claims.
Capacity to work effectively unsupervised and take ownership of assigned files.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal and client-service skills.
Excellent problem-solving and negotiation abilities.
Strong organizational, time-management, and prioritization skills.
Ability to manage multiple active claims, deadlines, and competing priorities.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Ability and willingness to travel for inspections and claim-related appointments.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience as a Public Adjuster or substantial experience as an independent or staff adjuster before obtaining a Public Adjuster license.
Experience negotiating property claims directly with insurance carrier representatives.
Additional Public Adjuster licenses in New Jersey, Delaware, or other states are a plus.

Compensation

This position offers a base salary of $60,000–$80,000 per year, depending upon experience and qualifications, plus commission opportunities.

The commission structure provides additional earning potential based upon performance and production.

Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be a self-motivated claims professional who can inspect a loss, develop a complete scope, write a professional Xactimate estimate, identify discrepancies in carrier estimates, communicate clearly, negotiate effectively, and consistently follow through.

We are looking for someone who does not need to be micromanaged. The right candidate should be comfortable taking ownership of their claims and working independently while remaining accessible, communicative, and accountable during regular business hours.

Responsiveness, professionalism, attention to detail, and timely follow-up are essential to this position.
