Lead Cake Decorator

Full-Time | Minimum 5 Years Professional Experience Required

Please do not apply if your decorating experience is limited to home baking, hobby decorating, or basic grocery-store production work. We are seeking an experienced professional decorator capable of executing high-end custom cakes independently.

Create Cakes That Become the Centerpiece of Life's Biggest Celebrations

For more than 35 years, Denise's Delicacies has been creating exceptional cakes and desserts for weddings, birthdays, corporate events, and celebrations throughout the Philadelphia region. We are seeking an experienced, highly skilled Cake Decorator who is passionate about craftsmanship, precision, and artistic excellence.

This is NOT an entry-level decorating position.

We are looking for a decorator with at least five years of professional cake decorating experience who can consistently produce high-quality custom cakes with minimal supervision. Applicants should be comfortable executing complex cake designs, wedding cakes, tiered cakes, fondant work, and fine decorative details while maintaining production efficiency.

A portfolio of your work is required for consideration. Applications submitted without photos or a portfolio of completed cakes will not be considered.

What You'll Do

Decorate custom cakes to Denise's Delicacies' quality standards
Design and execute wedding cakes and multi-tier celebration cakes
Cover cakes flawlessly with fondant
Create intricate handcrafted fondant decorations, figures, flowers, bows, and specialty accents
Produce clean buttercream finishes using a variety of professional techniques
Stack, dowel, transport-ready, and construct tiered cakes safely and accurately
Interpret customer inspiration photos while maintaining artistic quality
Prepare specialty cake orders accurately and on schedule
Work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining exceptional attention to detail
Collaborate with management and customer service staff to ensure customer expectations are met
Maintain decorating equipment and workstations in a clean, organized manner
Rotate products according to quality assurance standards to ensure freshness
Track inventory usage on production logs
Perform weekly inventory counts of decorating supplies and ingredients and submit order requests as needed
Follow approved procedures for receiving, labeling, storing, rotating, and preparing products
Handle damaged or spoiled products according to company policy
Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe work environment
Assist other bakery departments as needed
Follow all company policies, food safety procedures, and local, state, and federal regulations

Required QualificationsMinimum Requirements

At least five (5) years of professional cake decorating experience in a commercial bakery
Experience decorating wedding cakes and custom celebration cakes
Experience constructing stacked and tiered cakes
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Ability to consistently meet production deadlines without sacrificing quality
Strong organizational and time management skills
Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Required Technical Skills

Applicants must be proficient in:

Advanced buttercream techniques
Smooth fondant application
Sculpting and creating intricate fondant decorations
Tiered cake construction and structural support systems
Wedding cake assembly
Sugar flowers (preferred)
Piping techniques including borders, lacework, writing, and detailed decorative work
Working from inspiration photos and customer design requests
Color matching and custom color mixing
Airbrushing (preferred)
Basic cake carving and sculpting (preferred)

Physical Requirements

Stand for extended periods, frequently exceeding 8 hours
Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
Work safely around commercial bakery equipment
Maintain excellent attention to detail in a fast-paced production environment
