Full Job Description

Join a hands-on manufacturing team where purchasing, supplier partnerships, and material availability directly support customer commitments and operational success.

Sensidyne is seeking a detail-oriented, proactive Buyer to support our Materials team in a dynamic manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys supplier communication, problem solving, negotiation, and using data to keep production moving. The Buyer will review MRP/ERP requirements, source and purchase production materials, electronic components, printed circuit boards, assemblies, MRO supplies, services, and other commodities while helping ensure the right materials are available at the right time, at the right cost, and at the required quality level. This position works closely with Materials, Engineering, Production, Quality, Accounting, and suppliers, giving the successful candidate broad exposure to supply chain operations and meaningful impact on customer commitments, inventory objectives, and production schedules.

· Use analytical, negotiation, and supplier management skills to solve real-world purchasing and material availability challenges.

· Contribute to cost savings, supplier performance improvement, inventory planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

1. Source, evaluate, negotiate, and manage suppliers to improve material availability, cost, quality, lead time, and overall supply chain performance.

2. Place and manage approved purchase orders for electronic components, printed circuit board assemblies, machined parts, custom products, MRO supplies, services, and other assigned materials.

3. Coordinate outsourcing of custom products, machined parts, and subcontracted assemblies with approved vendors while ensuring requirements, drawings, specifications, and documentation are clearly communicated.

4. Ensure timely purchasing, delivery, material flow, and supplier communication to support finished goods inventory objectives, production schedules, customer requirements, and product lead times.

5. Review, analyze, and convert MRP/ERP requirements into purchase orders; verify pricing, lead times, quantities, delivery dates, purchase order terms, and supplier acknowledgements.

6. Run reports, queries, and spend or inventory analyses as needed to determine appropriate purchasing actions and maintain proper stock levels in accordance with department guidelines.

7. Input, review, and maintain MRP/ERP part data, including supplier information, lead times, pricing, minimum order quantities, order multiples, safety stock, and other purchasing parameters needed for accurate buy reports.

8. Proactively identify part obsolescence, allocation, shortage, and supply risk issues; communicate risks early and help develop alternate sourcing or replacement part solutions.

9. Monitor open purchase orders, supplier commitments, and delivery performance; expedite or defer orders as needed and coordinate recovery plans to protect production schedules.

10. Work closely with engineering on parts, ECOs, and supplier change notifications as directed; coordinate material disposition, purchase order updates, and implementation of affected parts.

11. Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier communications, quote history, and supporting documentation; participate in meetings, engage suppliers as needed, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Strong negotiation, sourcing, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a practical, solutions-oriented mindset

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and working knowledge of Word, Outlook, and purchasing/MRP/ERP systems

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with suppliers and internal departments

Strong attention to detail, planning, organization, follow-up, and documentation skills

Thorough knowledge of purchasing processes, inventory control, supplier management, and MRP/ERP applications

Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, follow through on open items, and work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Knowledge of electronic components, printed circuit boards, printed circuit assemblies, custom manufacturing, and MRO purchasing preferred

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or a related field preferred; equivalent purchasing, materials, supply chain, or manufacturing experience will also be considered. Three to five years of purchasing experience in an MRP/ERP-driven manufacturing environment preferred. Experience purchasing electronic components, printed circuit boards, printed circuit assemblies, machined parts, custom products, MRO supplies, or subcontract manufacturing services is a strong plus.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
