Full Job Description

We are seeking an execution-focused Plant Manager to lead our 400-employee facility. This role manages a fast-paced footprint featuring plastic injection molding, conventional and multi-slide zinc diecasting, a machine shop, and diverse assembly operations (ranging from high-speed automation to manual hand assembly). Partnering closely with our COO, you will champion a safety-first culture while leading the systematic upgrade of our quality benchmarks and 5S cleanliness, sustaining and strengthening our newly installed operating system, and building the flexible fulfillment capabilities needed to turn rapid response into a distinct market advantage. Crucially, you will lead the practical shift from paper-based tracking and tribal knowledge to a structured, data-driven floor culture.

Key Responsibilities

Safety & Process Hazards: Own a safety-first culture across every shift, working closely with the Safety Manager to build out our emerging safety function. Drive control of process-specific hazards — molten zinc, press and hydraulic energy, machine guarding, and material handling — with rigorous lockout/tagout (LOTO) discipline. Drive near-miss reporting, incident investigation to corrective-action closure, and visible tracking

of recordables and leading indicators.

Operations & Agility: Optimize throughput and manage budgets. Lead a 400-person multi-shift team using strict 5S and disciplined labor planning. Protect core Make-to-Stock volume while flexing to absorb Make-to-Order surges. Support future Assemble-to-Order paths. Own supply planning for the factory: plan and run production to appropriate monthly, weekly, and daily cycles so build matches demand across short- and long-term horizons.
Quality & Engineering Support: Enforce in-line inspection and root-cause problem solving (8D/5-Why). Own in-line quality control and develop a culture of quality for operations personnel. Enhance measurement of and address historically high scrap rates. Coordinate tooling trials and DFM reviews without disrupting production.
Asset Care & Floor Layout: Transition from reactive to proactive

maintenance. Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager on PM

programs for all tools and dies. Improve material flow and storage

within the existing footprint, and take a leading role in planning and execution of re-layout opportunities.

Digital Systems & TOS Compliance: Guide a balanced, macro-level digital roadmap for the factory. Support and help drive adoption of an operational implementation of a BI (Business Intelligence) reporting layer on our legacy system of record (FilePro) to replace paper with visual tracking and insights. Sustain and enforce TOMS (Tiered Operating Management System) structure and processes (Levels 0 through 4), keeping the hour-by-hour boards in plastics, die cast, and assembly live and driving daily follow-up on misses. Translate shop data into business metrics and actionable insights for the COO.

Required Qualifications

Experience & Dynamic Scaling: 7–10+ years managing heavy industrial plants (300+ employees) with a proven track record of budget accountability, boosting OEE, and navigating high-mix fulfillment models (MTS, MTO, and ATO) where throughput and supply reliability, in addition to demand swings, are the binding constraints.
Technical Core & Execution: Strong operational background in Plastic Injection Molding or Zinc Diecasting (conventional/multi-slide), with a proven ability to balance automated lines with high-headcount manual assembly.
Systems & Digital Strategy: Expert at standing up and hardwiring 5S, quality systems, and lean tiered operating systems. Verifiable experience supporting a phased digital transformation, using data and BI tools to organically justify operational upgrades, is highly valued.
Education: Engineering or Operations degree preferred; equivalent industrial leadership experience highly valued.

Pay: $175,000.00 - $225,000.00 per year
