Title: Print Production Consultant (Hybrid)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (1-hour break, no OT)
Pay Rate: $52.80/hr
Location: Hartford, CT (3 days in-office per week)
Duration: 12-18 month contract strictly
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Print Production Consultant to join our team in Hartford, CT. In this critical hybrid role, you will serve as the central hub for all print production activities—from strategic planning and estimating to vendor negotiation and final delivery. You will ensure that high-volume institutional marketing materials are produced on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards while adhering to postal regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning: Ensure the team adheres to critical production timelines and project milestones.
Project Management: Manage the full order and production lifecycle, from documentation to final delivery, fostering accountability with external partners.
Vendor Management: Cultivate and manage relationships with commercial printers to secure high-quality, cost-effective, and timely production—including print buying and vendor negotiations.
Cost & Budget Management: Conduct cost analysis, track actual product costs against estimates, and obtain approvals for budgeting and forecasting.
Specification & Negotiation: Collaborate with vendors to develop component specifications (beds, specs) and negotiate favorable pricing structures.
Quality Assurance: Oversee the processing of mock-ups, prototypes, and proofs to ensure rigorous quality standards are met.
Supply Chain Coordination: Identify and communicate supply chain issues to customers and coordinate effective solutions.
Innovation & Solutions: Research vendor and technology advancements to innovate production processes; develop packaging, fulfillment, and postal solutions.
Process Improvement: Develop, document, and update department policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
Records Management: Oversee document storage and physical record retention, ensuring compliance with policies.
Essential Skills & Experience:
Print Production Expertise: Deep knowledge of the print production process, specifically for four-color publications, including paper types and printing techniques. Traditional production role experience is a must.
Brochure & Promotional Materials: Experience putting together 3-panel brochures and managing promotional items.
Pre-Press Knowledge: Pre-press/press runs experience is highly helpful.
Digital & Print Mix: Ability to manage both print and digital production components.
Vendor Negotiation: Strong print buying and vendor negotiation skills.
Multi-Project Management: Proven ability to prioritize workloads and manage multiple projects simultaneously from concept to production.
Analytical: Strong analytical and computer skills with a keen attention to detail—experience with cell sheets is a plus.
Problem-Solving: Creative thinker who can overcome production challenges under pressure.
Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with tight deadlines.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required.
In lieu of a degree: A high school diploma or equivalent plus five (5) years of relative experience in marketing, agency, publishing, printing, project management, or supply chain management may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications (Highly Desired):
NY Media company experience is ideal.
Ad agency experience strongly preferred.
Acrobat proficiency is a plus.
Microsoft Suite proficiency required.
Creative Suite (Adobe) is nice to have.
Experience with Box for file posting.
Portfolio submission with your application will be helpful.
Additional Details:
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (1-hour lunch break, no overtime).
Contract Duration: This is a 12-month contract only (Temp-to-Hire).
Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 3 days per week in-office in Hartford, CT.
