Schaendorf Custom Farming
About Us
We are an established, diversified agricultural operations and logistics firm running
multiple distinct entities, including a high-volume custom farming/milk hauling business
and a separate large-scale dairy farm. Altogether, our family of companies supports a
workforce of 200+ employees, including 100+ commercial drivers alongside specialized
agricultural teams. We are seeking a high-level Senior HR Generalist to serve as the
operational backbone of our human resources department. This role is designed for a
skilled professional operating at or just below a manager level who can lead our
administrative functions, optimize our systems, and partner closely with executive
leadership.
- What You’ll Do (Core Responsibilities)
- Multi-Entity Payroll Architecture: Take full ownership of our ADP platform
across multiple EINs/companies. Oversee the accurate processing of bi-monthly
payroll for 200+ employees, navigating complex pay structures.
- Workers’ Comp & Risk Auditing: Manage precise workers' comp class code
allocations between agricultural, fleet, and administrative personnel. Lead the
annual workers' compensation audit process to ensure zero code
misclassifications and strict premium accuracy.
- Compliance & Audit Readiness: Apply advanced knowledge of FLSA
guidelines, specifically navigating the unique differences between agricultural
exemptions and transportation labor laws. Maintain flawless, audit-ready physical
and digital personnel files with strict data separation between entities.
- Regulatory Reporting: Own the annual federal reporting cycle. Accurately
prepare and submit EEOC filings (EEO-1) and manage annual OSHA
recordkeeping, including the timely completion and posting of OSHA 300/300A
logs.
- Benefits & 401(k) Fiduciary Support: Oversee company-wide benefits
enrollment, eligibility tracking, deductions, and escalated claims support. Partner
with our plan administrator to manage annual 401(k) compliance,
nondiscrimination testing, and year-end reporting.
- Strategic Recruitment Funnel: Optimize the initial applicant tracking system
(ATS) funnel in ADP. Direct the screening strategy for commercial drivers
(verifying Class A CDL and tanker endorsements) and coordinate workforce
pipelines for farming operations. Guide a successful onboarding process.
- Employee Relations: Guide managers and staff through employee relations with
care and fairness.
- What We’re Looking For (Requirements)
- Experience: 5+ years of progressive HR experience as a Senior Generalist,
Lead Coordinator, or Payroll Administrator. Experience operating at a near-
manager level is highly preferred. SHRM certifications a plus.
- Regulatory & Reporting Knowledge: Proven experience handling EEO-1
reporting, OSHA 300A posting, 401(k) plan compliance, and hands-on
preparation for workers' compensation audits.
- Multi-Entity Payroll Mastery: Direct, expert-level experience managing complex
multi-company environments within ADP (Workforce Now) or a similar enterprise
platform.
- Industry Background: Proven track record in transportation, logistics,
agriculture, dairy farming, or a similar industrial/blue-collar production
environment preferred.
- Communication Style: A down-to-earth, approachable communication style
suited for building trust with field and fleet workers, combined with the
professionalism required to advise executive leadership.

occasionally to our Coopersville site.
