About the role
FLG Technics is growing and looking for a seasoned Airframe/Composite Inspector to support our structures & composites shop. You’ll perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections; interpret technical data (CMMs, IPCs, SRMs, engineering drawings); and create accurate damage/repair assessments that directly support customer quotes and return-to-service.
What you’ll do
- Perform incoming inspections on airframe components (e.g., flaps, slats, ailerons, spoilers, thrust reversers, nacelle/cowl panels, radomes, fairings, interior panels), documenting condition, damages, missing parts, and configuration.
- Interpret technical data (CMM, IPC, SRM, OEM drawings, SBs/SILs) to determine approved repair schemes, limits, and inspection criteria.
- Create damage maps and repair/estimate assessments with photos, dimensions, and references to applicable data to support accurate quoting.
- Conduct in-process and final inspections, verifying repairs, dimensions, clearances, fastener/cure/adhesive requirements, torque values, and cleanliness standards.
- Verify parts, hardware, and materials (traceability, lot/batch, shelf life, specs) and identify any specialized tools, fixtures, or processes required for RTS.
- Use and maintain precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, depth gauges), and basic NDI screening tools/equipment as qualified.
- Generate clear, concise inspection reports in the ERP/quality system; tag/identify items per company procedures.
- Partner with mechanics, estimators, and QA to resolve discrepancies, support RCCA, and uphold Part-145 quality/recordkeeping requirements.
- Champion safety, FOD control, and housekeeping standards.
What you’ll bring (Required)
- 5+ years recent aerospace experience in airframe structures/composites within an MRO/repair-station or OEM environment.
- Hands-on mechanic background in airframe/structures/composites (you’ve built/repaired the parts you inspect).
- Strong ability to read and apply CMMs, IPCs, SRMs, engineering drawings, and OEM/FAA acceptable data to make sound repair/replace decisions.
- Proven skill in identifying damage modes (impact, delam, core crush, corrosion, wear, distortion), missing/incorrect hardware, and configuration issues.
- Proficient written and verbal communication; able to write clear inspection notes, photo captions, and customer-facing assessment summaries.
- Working knowledge of tools/materials used for composite and metallic repairs (adhesives, films, prepregs, core, bagging, cure methods; drill/ream, fasteners, sealants).
- Competence with measurement & documentation (calipers, micrometers, pit/depth gauges; basic office/ERP tools).
- Eligibility to work in the U.S.; ability to lift up to ~50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and use required PPE.
Nice to have (Preferred)
- FAA A&P certificate.
- NAS-410 Level II (PT/UT/ET/RT) or equivalent NDT experience.
- Experience with thickness/laminate evaluation, tap testing, or UT for composites.
- Familiarity with FAA/EASA documentation (8130-3, EASA Form 1) and Part-145 quality systems.
- ERP/quality software experience (e.g., Pentagon 2000 or similar).
- OEM experience across Airbus/Boeing/Embraer business & regional fleets.
Schedule & pay
- Full-time, on-site. Day shift with occasional OT as needed.
