Full Job Description

A great UHY client is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant. The ideal candidate will have public accounting experience, strong general ledger and month-end close expertise, and advanced Excel skills.

The Senior Staff Accountant role is a remote position with occasional travel needed to the office. This is a client direct hire position.

Senior Staff Accountant Responsibilities

Compile and analyze financial information to prepare accurate and timely journal entries to the general ledger.
Play a key role in the month-end close process, ensuring deadlines are met in a fast-paced environment.
Prepare monthly account reconciliations, analyze general ledger accounts, and perform variance analysis.
Compile and assist with budgets, forecasts, and financial planning activities.
Investigate account variances and prepare detailed explanations and supporting analyses.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies and procedures.
Analyze financial data, identify trends, and prepare management reports as needed.
Perform accounting research on technical accounting matters and prepare supporting documentation and technical memos.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement more efficient accounting procedures.
Collaborate with internal teams to support financial reporting and business initiatives.
Maintain the highest standards of safety, security, and confidentiality in all areas of responsibility.

Senior Staff Accountant Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and GAAP.
3+ years of public accounting experience, preferably with audit experience.
Big Four experience is highly preferred.
Candidates who have transitioned from public accounting into corporate accounting are encouraged to apply.
Experience supporting month-end close, general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and financial analysis.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and financial data analysis.
Experience with Workday Financial is a plus.
Experience with Tableau or Power BI is a plus.
CPA designation is preferred; candidates actively pursuing their CPA will also be considered.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical accounting research skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to multitask, prioritize competing deadlines, and work independently as well as collaboratively.
Detail-oriented with a strong customer service mindset and commitment to continuous process improvement.
