Computational Chemistry Expert – AI Trainer

Job Summary

In this role as a Computational Chemistry Expert supporting AI Training and evaluation initiatives, you will apply your expertise in computational chemistry, molecular modeling, simulation, cheminformatics, and scientific analysis to help improve next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world chemistry knowledge and advanced scientific problem-solving.

This is an hourly-paid contract opportunity, not a traditional research, laboratory, or drug discovery position. Contributors will work on project-based AI training and evaluation tasks while collaborating remotely with distributed teams in a flexible work environment. No prior experience in AI is required — your chemistry expertise is what matters.

Key Responsibilities

Design, evaluate, and critique advanced computational chemistry workflows to support AI training, benchmarking, and evaluation initiatives.
Contribute to AI training and evaluation projects through scientific reasoning tasks, technical assessments, response reviews, and chemistry-focused benchmarking workflows.
Provide expert-level insights on molecular simulations, electronic structure methods, quantum chemistry, and cheminformatics pipelines.
Assess and optimize simulation parameters, computational workflows, and scientific software configurations to ensure accuracy, reliability, and reproducibility.
Analyze data from molecular dynamics, quantum chemistry, materials science, or drug discovery projects and provide evidence-based recommendations.
Support the development, validation, and improvement of chemistry-related AI models and tools through domain expertise.
Communicate complex scientific concepts clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical collaborators.
Document findings, methodologies, best practices, and evaluation criteria to support knowledge sharing and project consistency.

Required Skills and Qualifications

PhD in Chemistry, Computational Chemistry, Chemical Physics, or a closely related field, or equivalent industry/research experience demonstrating advanced expertise.
Deep knowledge of computational chemistry methods, molecular modeling, simulation techniques, and computational research workflows.
Proficiency with industry-standard tools such as Gaussian, ORCA, Psi4, NWChem, GROMACS, LAMMPS, AMBER, RDKit, OpenBabel, or similar platforms.
Strong scientific programming experience, particularly with Python and computational chemistry workflows.
Excellent quantitative, analytical, mathematical, and scientific reasoning abilities.
Experience working with molecular dynamics, quantum chemistry, cheminformatics, electronic structure calculations, or related computational methods.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain and document complex scientific concepts.
Demonstrated track record of rigorous scientific problem-solving and independent research or technical contributions.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience applying AI, machine learning, or data-driven methodologies within chemistry, materials science, pharmaceutical research, or related domains.
Peer-reviewed publications, patents, conference presentations, or significant contributions to open-source scientific software.
Background in drug discovery, molecular design, spectroscopy analysis, reaction prediction, retrosynthesis, or computational materials science.
Experience evaluating scientific content, developing technical assessments, or contributing to AI model evaluation projects.
Familiarity with scientific benchmarking methodologies and AI training-related workflows is a plus.
