Full Job Description

Position Description:

Sauk Prairie Schools Before-School Club (BSC) and After-School Club (ASC) provides childcare for students in grades 4K-5 during the school year and through the summer. The ASC/BSC Childcare Program Manager will be responsible for the overall management of these programs including planning, administering and supervising. This position oversees program operations for before and after school care including staffing, training, scheduling, parent communication, ordering supplies and budgeting. In addition, the program manager will be on-site during afterschool care to support ASC staff in the care, growth and development of children. Essential Functions:

Administrative

Recruit, interview, hire and train employees.
Schedule staff for medication training and other health and safety measures and maintain records.
Serve as lead on budgeting and purchasing for the programs including food/nutrition purchases.
Set Up ASC programs in RecDesk software for registration and invoicing purposes.
Register participants, invoice families monthly, monitor payments for adherence to payment schedule and communicate with families regularly about unpaid balances.
Communicate with families as needed via phone and email to provide program updates, registration information etc.
Work with Site Supervisors to accurately maintain daily attendance records.
Process enrollment information for each program participant and provide and maintain information at each site.
Collect relevant data for the purpose of program evaluation and grant acquisition.
Attend required professional growth in-services, i.e. Blood borne Pathogens, Meds Distribution, CPR and all required in-service workshops.
Meet monthly with site supervisors to address any concerns or work on program development.
Communicate regularly with the Community Education Director, parents, teachers/counselors/social workers regarding behavioral concerns.

Experience

Proven experience in school or early childhood education administration, ideally within a childcare or university setting.
Demonstrated success in staff supervision, team management, and personnel management within an educational context.
Strong background in program development, curriculum planning, and working directly with young children or students.
Familiarity with educational administrative software systems and productivity software such as Microsoft Office Suite.
Previous experience as a school administrative director or in education administration is highly desirable.
Knowledge of early childhood education practices, school experience, and working with students from diverse backgrounds.
Excellent writing skills for report preparation, documentation, and communication purposes.

Planning

Plan and implement regular staff development opportunities and specific training.
Work with staff and outside venues to coordinate special events/activities for the sites.
Purchase supplies and distribute supplies to sites.
Work with bus companies for transportation to off-site events.
Implement school policies and procedures to safeguard the health and safety of the students
Review emergency procedures and information with on-site staff.
Ascertain that on-site staff is knowledgeable of current fire and tornado drill procedures according to school district policy.
Provide on-site staff with information regarding medication administration, storage and recording consistent with school district policies.

Qualifications

CDA, Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Early Childhood Education or related field.
Work experience that includes supervising and managing staff.
Minimum of two years experience working as a teacher or teaching assistant in a childcare or school environment.
Strong organization and administration skills with the ability to coordinate staffing, develop programming and manage budget.
Leadership and management skills as related to staff supervision and program management.
Solid communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate via phone and email.
Ability to develop and maintain relationships with other staff members, supervisors, administrators and the community.
Dependability, flexibility and a commitment to working as part of a team.
Working knowledge of Google for spreadsheet and document creation.
CPR/AED/First Aid certified with the willingness to stay current on certification and other certifications that may be required.
Working knowledge and understanding of local, educational and service agents and organizations.

District Description

The Sauk Prairie School District includes Sauk City and Prairie du Sac, two “next door” villages known as Sauk Prairie. They are located on the beautiful Wisconsin River. Thirteen towns and the village of Merrimac are also in the district. The area features rolling hills, meadows, bluffs, forests, lakes and streams. The district offers small-town, rural living with easy access to the Madison urban area (25 miles) and to the Wisconsin Dells recreation area (28 miles). The district serves almost 2,900 students, and comprises six learning communities with a high school, middle school and four elementary schools.
