Structural Designer III

Location: Hillsboro, OR 97124
Job Type: Contract (12 Months)
Work Schedule: Hybrid
Pay Rate: $36.00 - $43.00 per hour
Duration: 1 Year
Experience Required: 5–8+ Years

Position Summary

A leading engineering and design organization is seeking an experienced Structural Designer III to support complex commercial and industrial projects. This role offers the opportunity to work on multidisciplinary projects, taking ownership of structural design assignments from concept through construction documentation.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience with Revit and AutoCAD, a strong understanding of structural systems, and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, architects, and other disciplines in a fast-paced project environment.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and coordinate structural designs for commercial and industrial projects.
Prepare construction documents, including plans, elevations, sections, schedules, details, and 3D models.
Lead structural design efforts for assigned systems, building areas, or project phases.
Coordinate with engineers, architects, and multidisciplinary project teams to resolve design conflicts.
Perform field surveys to verify existing site conditions, as required.
Review project specifications and ensure designs comply with applicable codes and industry standards.
Participate in design reviews, coordination meetings, and project planning sessions.
Review drawings and models prepared by junior designers and provide technical guidance.
Assist engineers with engineering calculations as needed.
Prepare labor estimates and support project planning activities.
Review contractor submittals and respond to RFIs.
Deliver accurate, high-quality work while meeting project schedules and deadlines.

Required Qualifications

5–8+ years of structural design experience.
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting, Structural Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Advanced proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
Experience producing construction documents from conceptual design through final construction.
Strong understanding of structural systems and construction practices.
Knowledge of applicable building codes and engineering standards.
Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Navisworks and Bluebeam.
Familiarity with BIM workflows and model coordination.
Experience performing clash detection and design coordination.
Experience leading project areas or serving as a lead designer.
Experience preparing labor estimates and supporting project planning.
