Full Job Description

Job Title: Adult home cook

Reports To: Administrator
Job Type: [Full-Time/Part-Time]
Schedule: [Include shifts—e.g., mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays]

Job Summary:

The Adult home Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious, appetizing, and well-balanced meals for residents in accordance with dietary requirements, food safety guidelines, and the facility’s menus. This role contributes to residents' overall well-being and satisfaction through quality food service in a clean and welcoming environment. The cook also plays a key role in planning, preparing, and executing meals and refreshments for facility events and special occasions.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and cook meals according to the facility's menu and dietary guidelines.
Ensure food is served at the proper temperature and in an appealing manner.
Follow sanitation and safety procedures in food preparation and kitchen cleanliness.
Adapt meals for residents with special dietary needs or preferences.
Plan and prepare food and beverages for facility events, parties, and holiday celebrations.
Collaborate with the Activities Director and other departments to coordinate event menus and service.
Monitor inventory and notify supervisor of shortages or needed supplies.
Maintain accurate food preparation and temperature logs.
Assist with receiving and storing food supplies.
Provide excellent customer service and respond to residents’ requests politely and promptly.
Comply with all state and local health department regulations.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous cooking experience in a healthcare, residential, or assisted living setting preferred.
Experience with event or catering-style food service is a plus.
Knowledge of dietary needs, including diabetic and low-sodium diets, is a plus.
Food handler’s certificate or ServSafe certification (or willingness to obtain).
Strong time management and organizational skills.
Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
Compassion for the elderly and commitment to resident care.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
