Full Job Description

Position Summary:

The Thrift Store Associate with Box truck driving duties supports the daily operations of the thrift store by assisting with donation pick-ups and drop-offs, occasionally driving a box truck, sorting and pricing donated goods, putting priced items on the store floor, cashiering, answering the phone and providing excellent customer service, and participating in community events as assigned. This position plays an important role in supporting the organization’s mission through responsible handling of donated items and positive community engagement. Duties and job assignments vary daily depending on that day’s store activities.

The schedule is Tuesday through Saturday 8am-5pm.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Safely operate a box truck or other organization vehicle to pick up donations from designated locations.
Load and unload donations, ensuring proper handling, care and safe weight distribution and load balancing within the truck.
Lifting up to 75lbs.
Maintain vehicle cleanliness and report maintenance promptly.
Follow all traffic and safety regulations.
Greet and provide friendly and helpful service to customers and donors with professionalism and appreciation.
Sort donations according to category and quality standards.
Discard or recycle unsellable items following YHS guidelines.
Maintain a clean and organized facility.
Price items according to YHS guidelines.
Prepare and stock merchandise on the sales floor in an appealing and organized manner including rotating merchandise following YHS policy.
Operate the cash register accurately, process sales transactions, and handle cash and credit payments.
Answer store phone
Follow safety and loss prevention procedures.
Participate in YHS community events.
Regular and punctual attendance is required and is an essential function of this job.
Other duties as assigned by the Manager and Assistant Manager

Qualifications and Requirements:

Must meet our Driver Insurance requirements
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to operate a box truck safely.
Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 75 lbs. frequently.
Previous retail, warehouse, or customer service experience preferred.
Strong customer service skills.
Dependable, team-oriented, and mission-driven.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically active environment.
Work environment will include outdoor and indoor work including working in weather conditions.
Weekend and holiday availability
Able to work in a team environment and flexibility in daily job assignments.
