We are currently seeking a high-caliber Electrical Diagnostic & Repair Technician to join an end-of-line quality and rework team for a premier manufacturing partner in the Grove City area.
Job Summary
In this critical role, you will serve as the final line of defense, ensuring that custom manufactured vehicles meet strict quality and electrical performance standards before delivery.
Instead of basic, repetitive assembly work, you will focus on high-level troubleshooting, tracing ghost electrical issues, diagnosing complex wire harnesses, and programming proprietary control systems. If you have a strong foundational background in 12V DC diagnostics and the right troubleshooting mindset, specialized training on these specific product systems will be provided.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyze, diagnose, and correct electrical, electronic, and programming malfunctions on completed custom vehicles and equipment units.
- Troubleshoot complex 12V DC and 110V AC circuitry using voltmeters, test lights, and advanced diagnostic software.
- Power up, program, test, and complete specialized electrical items and control systems on all units rolling off the line.
- Inspect, test, and repair wire installations, assemblies, switch panels, and custom harnesses to ensure conformance to drawings and engineering specifications.
- Perform a wide range of specialized mechanical and electrical repair work, including disassembling and reassembling components as required to fix defects.
- Read and interpret detailed schematics, engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and work orders to efficiently trace electrical faults.
- Identify necessary replacement parts and partner with the purchasing department to ensure timely delivery for rapid turnaround.
- Maintain a safe, organized, clean work environment and update all quality tracking paperwork to reflect diagnostic changes and repairs.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- The Diagnostic Mindset: A proven track record of solving complex electrical puzzles rather than just plugging components together.
- Complete understanding of 12V DC circuitry, current, voltage, and resistance (experience with 110V AC is a strong plus).
- Ability to read and interpret complex wiring schematics, blueprints, and engineering orders.
- Proficiency with various diagnostic tools, including voltmeters, test lights, hand tools, and pneumatic/power tools.
- Basic PC skills and the capability to utilize computer-based diagnostic scanners and programming interfaces.
- Strong communication skills to discuss production runs, repetitive quality issues, or specific defects with team members and engineering.
Education and Experience Prerequisites
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3 to 5 years of related electrical troubleshooting experience (e.g., Automotive Electrical/Diagnostics, Custom Vehicle Upfitting, Avionics, Marine Electrical, or Heavy Equipment Wire Harness Repair).
- Note: Candidates with strong foundational 12V diagnostic experience but lacking specific equipment programming knowledge are encouraged to apply, as specialized training will be provided.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Ability to regularly lift and move up to 40 lbs without assistance.
- Comfortable working from various physical positions, including bending, kneeling, squatting, and working with arms above the head or on ladders.
- Must be able to stand at a workstation for up to an 8-hour shift.
- Regularly works near moving mechanical parts in an elevated noise environment; personal protective equipment (safety glasses and earplugs) is required on the plant floor.
- Ability to work effectively under varying shop floor temperatures.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Required:
- Safety glasses or prescription safety glasses with side shields.
- Earplugs.
- Close-toed shoes (required on the plant floor).
