Full Job Description

Accounts Receivable Coordinator

Steere House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, a nonprofit skilled nursing facility in Providence, RI, is seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable Coordinator to join our business office team.

The Accounts Receivable Coordinator will be responsible for billing and follow-up of private pay, Medicaid, Medicare, Managed Care, and other insurance claims. This role is critical to ensuring accurate, timely billing and collection of outstanding balances while maintaining professional communication with residents, families, payers, and internal departments.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and submit billing for Medicaid, Medicare, Managed Care, private pay, and other insurance claims.
Follow up on unpaid claims, denied claims, outstanding balances, and aging accounts.
Review remittance advice, payment activity, and payer responses to identify billing issues or needed corrections.
Work with insurance companies, Medicaid, Medicare, residents, families, and responsible parties to resolve outstanding balances.
Maintain accurate documentation of billing activity, claim status, follow-up efforts, and payment arrangements.
Assist with month-end billing and accounts receivable reporting.
Collaborate with admissions, nursing, medical records, finance, and other departments to obtain necessary documentation for billing.
Monitor payer changes, authorizations, eligibility, and coverage information as needed.
Support compliance with applicable billing regulations, payer requirements, and facility policies.
Support the Receptionist position as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum of 3–5 years of skilled nursing facility billing, medical billing, or healthcare accounts receivable experience preferred.
Experience billing Medicaid, Medicare, Managed Care, private pay, and commercial insurance claims strongly preferred.
Familiarity with skilled nursing reimbursement, payer requirements, claims follow-up, denials, and aging reports.
MatrixCare experience is a plus.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and follow-through.
Ability to communicate professionally with residents, families, payors, and team members.
Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and manage multiple payer accounts.
Proficiency with computers, billing software, Microsoft Office, and electronic records systems.

Pay: $29.00 - $32.00 per hour
