Full Job Description

Duration: Contract 12 Months

Shift hours: Monday through Friday Regular Timings

Physician may be responsible for providing Diagnostic Radiology interpretations, depending on current needs of the department and radiologists' areas of expertise, including but not limited to:

Fluoroscopy (speech cine, barium esophagram)
Ultrasound: Body, Extremity Venous, Extremity Nonvascular, MSK
CT: Head, Body, MSK
MRI: Neuro, Body, MSK
Nuclear Medicine, DEXA

Roles and Responsibilities:
Direct Patient Care
Estimated 90% of the time involved in direct patient care.

Required Interpretations
Contracted physicians must be able to provide Diagnostic Radiology interpretations of:
X-Ray
CT and/or MRI in at least one of the following adult diagnostic radiology subspecialties:
Body
Neuro
MSK

Scope of Care
Contractor's physician(s) may be responsible for providing Diagnostic Radiology interpretations, depending on current needs of the department and radiologists' areas of expertise, including but not limited to:
Fluoroscopy (speech cine, barium esophagram)
Ultrasound: Body, Extremity Venous, Extremity Nonvascular, MSK
CT: Head, Body, MSK
MRI: Neuro, Body, MSK
Nuclear Medicine, DEXA

Clinic Duties

Contractor's radiologist(s) shall be physically present on-site on time for all scheduled clinic hours, Monday through Friday, as documented by sign-in at the scheduled start time. Clinical duties include, but are not limited to:
Review imaging requests for appropriateness and provide appropriate protocols and oversight to radiology technologists.
Protocol examinations and prescribe contrast agents, medications, and radiation doses in accordance with professional industry standards and ACR guidelines.
Communicate imaging protocols to radiology technologists and imaging staff.
Adhere to ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles in all radiation-related activities.
Provide interpretations of diagnostic imaging studies within the following turnaround times in the approved reporting system: STAT studies within one (1) hour; ASAP studies within eight (8) hours; Routine studies within forty-eight (48) hours. Communicate critical, urgent, and unexpected findings in accordance with departmental policies.
Identify and report poor image quality or equipment performance using appropriate
facility reporting channels.
Participate in multidisciplinary conferences and clinical consultations.

Administrative Duties
Administrative duties are estimated at 10% of the overall tour of duty and include, but are not limited to:

Participate in departmental meetings, quality assurance activities, and performance improvement initiatives as required by the facility.
Maintain required credentials, licensure, certifications, and continuing medical education (CME) in accordance with regulatory, accrediting, and facility standards.
Participate in regulatory compliance activities, including accreditation processes, audits, and inspections relevant to radiology services.
Support radiation safety, contrast safety, and quality assurance programs as required by the facility or governing bodies.
Assist in onboarding, orientation, and mentorship of new radiologists, trainees, or staff as appropriate.
Respond to administrative requests, documentation needs, and communication from facility leadership in a timely manner.

Candidates should possess the following qualifications:

License: The Contractor's physician(s) assigned by the Contractor to perform the services covered by this contract shall have a current license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia when services are performed on-site on VA property.
Board Certification: All Contractor's physician(s) shall be Board Certified or Board Eligible per the American Board of Radiology. Board Eligible is defined as having completed an ACGME or AOA-accredited residency in diagnostic radiology and being within five (5) years of residency completion without having failed a board examination.
ACGME or AOA-accredited residency in Diagnostic Radiology, including program name and dates of completion
Subspecialty expertise (e.g., Body, Neuro, MSK) and modalities interpreted
Summary of professional experience, including years in practice and practice settings
Disclosure of any potential conflicts during the period of performance, such as previously planned military leave, extended vacation, or anticipated absences exceeding five (5 consecutive workdays
Disclosure of any past or current license restrictions, suspensions, revocations, or surrenders
Physicians must maintain current ACLS/BLS certification through an external accredited program such as the American Heart Association (AHA)

Annual Office of Inspector General (OIG) Statement
Proof of Indemnification and Medical Liability Insurance
The following experience, if applicable, shall be disclosed in the resume/CV in a dedicated section labeled "VA Experience " and may be evaluated more favorably in the Technical evaluation:
Prior experience working within the VA healthcare system
Familiarity with VA electronic health record systems, including VistA and/or CPRS
Experience providing care to veteran populations.
