Underwriter – Personal Lines Homeowners Insurance

Location: Johnston, RI (100% In-Office)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary Range: $65,000 – $82,500 annually, based on experience

Who We're Looking For

This opportunity is specifically designed for professionals with Personal Lines Homeowners underwriting experience.

If your background is in commercial lines or other insurance disciplines, we appreciate your interest, but we're seeking candidates with recent experience underwriting Personal Lines Homeowners Insurance who understand the unique challenges of property risk evaluation, agency partnerships, and homeowner portfolio management.

If you enjoy making sound underwriting decisions, building strong agency relationships, and working alongside an experienced, supportive team, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Do

As an Underwriter, you'll evaluate, select, price, and manage Personal Lines Homeowners risks while providing outstanding service to our agency partners.

Responsibilities include:

Evaluate new business submissions and make sound underwriting decisions within established authority.
Review endorsements, reinstatements, cancellations, inspections, and renewal business.
Assess property eligibility and determine appropriate underwriting action.
Build and maintain strong relationships with independent agency partners.
Provide underwriting guidance and exceptional service to agents.
Serve as a trusted resource on underwriting guidelines, products, and coverage.
Collaborate closely with Claims, Product Management, Sales, Operations, and fellow Underwriters.
Identify opportunities to improve processes and enhance the agent experience.
Ensure compliance with company guidelines and state regulatory requirements.
Participate in special projects and departmental initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

Required Experience

1–2+ years of recent Personal Lines Homeowners underwriting experience within the Property & Casualty insurance industry.
Experience working directly with independent insurance agencies.
Strong knowledge of Personal Lines underwriting guidelines and property risk evaluation.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and progressive insurance experience.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.
Outstanding written and verbal communication.
Strong customer service mindset with a collaborative approach.
Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality.
