Full Job Description

Overview
We are in search of a skilled Audio Visual Lead Technician to join our team. This position plays a crucial role in supervising small crews on job sites, ensuring that daily work is performed efficiently, safely, and to GENCOMM standards. As a bridge between technician-level work and field leadership, the Lead Technician coordinates installations, oversees project timelines, and communicates job progress effectively.

This position requires frequent travel, including overnight stays and out-of-state assignments that may require stays over the weekend. Candidates must be comfortable with a travel schedule that may exceed 50% of the time.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage a team of AV installation technicians on-site, providing technical guidance and direction
Manage day-to-day time, workflow, and task assignments for your team
Test and verify all AV system wiring and functionality
Interpret manufacturer documentation and contact technical support as needed
Provide regular job updates to project managers and stakeholders
Read CAD drawings/plans and schematic diagrams to understand scope of the project
Accurately document and enter daily time and tasks
Build equipment racks and wire according to elevation plans
Program automation systems and networks
Travel regularly to job sites across regions, often requiring overnight stays
Perform other duties as required or assigned by company management
Must be able to work at heights, off of a ladder and in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that arise during installation and testing
Interact with employees, customers, and colleagues effectively on a professional level
Strong Communication Skills both written and verbal
Must be self-motivated, positive in approach, professional and help create, develop and implement project process improvement(s)

Qualifications

Strong technical knowledge of AV systems, including audio, video, control systems and networking concepts.
Minimum of 4 years of AV installation and field experience
Supervisory experience of 2 years
Strong technical background and the ability to delegate, supervise, lead small teams
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel frequently
OSHA 10 certification (must be obtained within 30 days of hire)
CTS certification (must be obtained within 180 days of hire)
Physically fit to climb to high ceilings, crawl through tunnels, move around tight spaces
Be authorized to work in the US
Provide your own tools and transportation
Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
Must pass a drug screen
Must pass criminal background screening
Bilingual (Spanish is a bonus)

Preferred Certifications/Training Goals:

OSHA 10 (within 30 days of hire).
CTS certification (to be obtained within 120 days from hire date).
Audio Enhancement Level 2.
QSC Level 1 Training.
Dante Level 1.
Netgear Level 1 Online.
