Job Summary:
Transports and operates heavy equipment to install water and sanitation facilities.
Job Duties:
Installs on-site wastewater systems in accordance with appropriate standards and specifications. Installs water service lines from water source to home. Assists in the layout of sanitation facilities. Assists in the transportation of heavy equipment such as backhoes, bulldozers, skid steer loaders, backhoe attachments, and dump trucks to install water and sanitation facilities. Performs routine preventative maintenance of assigned equipment. Repairs existing water and sanitation facilities as needed. Assists in the removal, transportation, and disposal of septage from onsite wastewater systems. Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications:
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT
High School diploma or general education degree (GED) or six (6) months related experience.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
An additional two (2) years of experience is required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating. Must be able to operate tribal or GSA vehicle to and from job sites. Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality Class D water and wastewater operators license preferred.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must have knowledge of heavy equipment operation, water and wastewater construction materials and techniques, and be familiar with the use of a transit and laser level.

Employee must not and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG’s Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA’s List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG’s List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; work near moving mechanical parts; and work in outdoor weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
