Full Job Description

Job Description

We are seeking a Clinical Research Nurse to support the delivery of high-quality clinical research by coordinating patient care, performing laboratory and specimen management activities, and ensuring compliance with study protocols and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical and laboratory experience, excellent phlebotomy skills, and a commitment to providing compassionate patient care while supporting the successful execution of clinical research studies.

Responsibilities

Assist physicians during genetic counseling procedures and other clinical research activities.
Obtain and assist in collecting patient medical history and supporting medical documentation.
Perform phlebotomy procedures and coordinate the collection of blood and tissue samples for genetic and molecular testing.
Communicate with patients and healthcare professionals to obtain information required for genetic testing and clinical research protocols.
Serve as the liaison between patients and laboratories regarding insurance requirements for genetic and molecular testing.
Ensure laboratory activities are conducted in compliance with Sponsor protocols, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
Process, prepare, classify, label, and manage biological specimens according to study protocol requirements.
Collect, enter, and maintain clinical research data while ensuring data accuracy and quality control.
Assist physicians with vital sign assessments and electrocardiogram (ECG) testing.
Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies, protocol kits, and clinical research materials.
Prepare specimens for laboratory testing using appropriate laboratory equipment, including centrifuges for blood processing.
Maintain complete, accurate, and organized laboratory documentation and records.
Receive laboratory results and perform document scanning and data entry in the RealTime Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS).
Follow established laboratory procedures, health and safety regulations, and infection control standards.
Clean, disinfect, and sterilize laboratory equipment and work areas.
Collect and prepare research information and documentation needed for clinical studies.
Educate and assist patients regarding available treatment options and support resources.
Serve as an essential liaison between patients and the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Coordinate patient appointments for consultations and support services while promoting continuity of care.
Collaborate with physicians, research staff, and other departments to collect data, monitor outcomes, and support quality improvement initiatives.
Establish and maintain positive working relationships with physicians, nurses, diagnostic staff, radiology personnel, social services, radiation oncology staff, and other healthcare professionals.
Stay informed of current clinical research practices, laboratory techniques, and industry standards.
Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Nursing with an active and unrestricted nursing license.
Minimum of 2–5 years of nursing experience, preferably in clinical research, oncology, genetics, infusion, or a related specialty.
Experience performing phlebotomy and laboratory specimen management.
Knowledge of specialized medical and scientific terminology.
Working knowledge of laboratory information systems and automated laboratory equipment.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand scientific and statistical data.
Excellent patient care, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
Bilingual (English and Spanish) with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to maintain patient and participant confidentiality while exercising sound professional judgment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), email, internet applications, and clinical research databases.
Compassion and empathy when working with patients with cancer, terminal illnesses, and potential infectious diseases.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality, regulatory compliance, and patient safety.
