Manager of Surgical Services – Lead a High-Performing OR Team

We are partnering with a hospital on California’s Central Coast to hire a Manager of Surgical Services (RN) to oversee day-to-day operating room and perioperative services.
This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned circulating RN who has taken on charge, lead, or supervisory responsibilities and is ready for greater ownership of staffing, operations, quality, workflow, and team development.
You’ll work closely with physicians, nursing leadership, and hospital administration while having a direct impact on how the surgical services department operates.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations of the operating room and perioperative services department
- Oversee staffing, scheduling, assignments, and department workflow
- Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to surgical services staff
- Hire, orient, train, and evaluate department employees
- Maintain high standards for patient safety, quality, and clinical practice
- Monitor department performance and implement process improvements
- Support regulatory, accreditation, and compliance requirements
- Develop and maintain department policies and procedures
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, nursing leadership, and hospital administration
- Participate in budgeting, equipment planning, and resource management
- Address operational challenges and promote efficient patient flow
- Build a positive, accountable, and team-oriented department culture
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate is a well-rounded perioperative RN with strong circulating experience and demonstrated leadership ability.
This is a general OR management position, so we’re looking for someone who understands the full operation of a surgical services department and has experience working across a variety of surgical procedures.
You may be a great fit if you have progressed from circulating RN → charge nurse/lead → supervisor or manager and are ready to take the next step in your career.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or equivalent required
- Active California RN license
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS – American Heart Association
- 5+ years of RN experience
- 2+ years of circulating OR experience
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to effectively manage staff, priorities, and department operations
Preferred Qualifications
- CNOR certification
- Previous PACU experience
- Prior supervisory or management experience in perioperative services
- Experience with quality improvement initiatives
- Familiarity with hospital regulatory and accreditation standards
- Experience with staffing, budgeting, and equipment planning
