Cooke, Lavender, Massey & Company, P.C. is a prominent and fast-growing public accounting firm in the New River Valley operating since 1988. We pride ourselves in offering exceptional client service in a pleasant work environment. Our firm provides assurance, tax, and advisory services. We also provide extensive nonattest services such as bookkeeping and payroll. The firm has office locations in Blacksburg and Radford, VA.

Description of Position:

We are seeking an ambitious, motivated, staff accountant (CPA license preferred but not required) experienced primarily in income tax preparation for individual, corporate, partnership tax returns. The candidate filling the position will assist with preparing various types of income tax returns including individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns. The candidate will also be a member of our audit team for numerous audits and assist with completion of reviews and compilations. This full-time position offers the potential for advancement to the right ambitious and motivated candidate.

Responsibilities:

Preparation of the tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and non-profits.
Assist with annual audits for numerous non-profit and for-profit clients.
Perform compilation and review engagements for clients in various industries.
Regular interactions with clients.
No overnight travel necessary. Some daily travel in the New River Valley may be required.

Skills and Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting. Eligibility to sit for CPA exam if certification not already obtained.
Master's degree in accounting preferred
CPA license preferred
5 years of accounting experience preferred
The ability to work enthusiastically in a fast pace environment and to meet established deadlines.
Strong organizational skills in a multi-task environment.
The ability to communicate effectively with clients and to other members of the firm.
The ability to maintain a positive attitude.
Highly motivated with strong work ethic and a team player.
