Position Responsibilities
As a Fire Alarm Technician, you will be responsible for field installation, service, testing, inspection, troubleshooting, and programming of fire alarm and life safety systems.
Responsibilities include:
- Install, service, troubleshoot, test, inspect, and maintain fire alarm systems
- Perform fire alarm system programming and commissioning
- Diagnose system deficiencies and complete necessary repairs
- Install and terminate fire alarm devices, panels, notification appliances, initiating devices, and associated equipment
- Read and interpret plans, specifications, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
- Perform inspections and testing in accordance with applicable codes and requirements
- Maintain accurate service, inspection, and project documentation
- Stage and perform daily field work while communicating project status with Field Supervisors
- Operate company vehicles to travel between job sites and obtain necessary materials and equipment
- Maintain tools and equipment in clean, safe working condition
- Follow company and jobsite safety requirements
- Participate in the on-call service rotation as needed
- Provide guidance and field training to apprentice technicians
- Lead crews when assigned while maintaining strong communication, collaboration, and jobsite organization
- Perform related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Active Washington EL06 Journeyman License
- NICET Level II Fire Alarm Systems Certification
- FA-1 Fire Alarm Certificate
- Minimum three years of relevant fire alarm or low-voltage field experience
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or apprenticeship training preferred
- Valid Washington State driver's license with a good driving record
- Ability to work Monday through Friday, eight hours per day
- Ability to participate in occasional on-call or weekend service work as required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems, devices, installation methods, testing, and troubleshooting
- Knowledge of applicable fire alarm and electrical codes, regulations, and industry standards
- Ability to safely operate tools and equipment used in low-voltage and fire alarm work
- Ability to read plans, wiring diagrams, specifications, and technical documentation
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation
- Strong communication skills with customers, supervisors, coworkers, and apprentices
- Ability to work independently in the field while contributing to a collaborative team
- Dependable, professional, and committed to quality workmanship
- Willingness to mentor and support developing technicians
