Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Freelance Copy Editor to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for refining and polishing a variety of educational content, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and adherence to established editorial standards. Your expertise will help elevate our materials, making them engaging and accessible for diverse audiences. This paid position offers flexible scheduling for talented editors passionate about education and storytelling.

Responsibilities

Edit and proofread a wide range of content including curriculum materials, proposals, and marketing copy to ensure grammatical accuracy, consistency, and style adherence
Apply editorial guidelines such as AP Style, Chicago Manual of Style, and technical writing standards to maintain high-quality output
Conduct fact-checking and research to verify information accuracy within content
Manage multiple editorial projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
Collaborate with writers and content creators to improve clarity, flow, and storytelling elements
Use content management systems and word processing tools efficiently for editing tasks
Ensure all content aligns with the organization’s voice, tone, and branding guidelines

Requirements

Proven experience in copy editing, proofreading, or editorial project management within digital or print media
Strong command of English language skills with excellent attention to detail
Familiarity with editorial guidelines such as AP Style, Chicago Manual of Style, and technical writing standards
Ability to research effectively and verify factual information accurately
Exceptional communication skills to collaborate with writers and stakeholders
Proficiency in content management systems and word processing software
Creative writing skills combined with journalistic storytelling ability
Knowledge of content writing, copywriting, proposal writing, and editing best practices
Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently while maintaining high standards
