Pay: $21.00–$24.00 per hour — hourly/non-exempt (W-2), OT-eligible
Work location: Remote, but preferably in Montana (option for hybrid or in office)
Note: This is a W-2 design/production role—no sales, commissions, or lead-gen.
We’re looking for a highly detail-oriented Senior Production / Graphic Designer who can confidently take projects from concept to final delivery with accuracy, efficiency, and minimal oversight.
About the Role
This role requires a strong balance of creative design skills and technical production expertise. The ideal candidate understands typography, hierarchy, layout, readability, and brand consistency — while also knowing how files move through print, digital, vendor, and large-format production workflows.
You should be someone who notices issues before they become problems, asks smart questions when clarification is needed, and consistently delivers polished, production-ready work. This position supports multiple clients and brands, so adaptability, organization, and accountability are essential.
We’re seeking someone who thrives in a fast-paced agency environment, can manage multiple priorities, and takes ownership of their work from start to finish.
While remote flexibility may be available, we strongly prefer candidates who are local or nearby. For remote team members, reliability, responsiveness, and strong communication are critical to success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Design and produce marketing materials across print and digital platforms
- Prepare accurate, production-ready files for print vendors and large-format applications
- Create layouts for ads, billboards, brochures, direct mail, event materials, signage, social graphics, menus, business cards, branded collateral, and much more
- Adapt campaigns across multiple sizes and formats while maintaining brand consistency and visual hierarchy
- Interpret vendor specifications and prepare files for print, finishing, digital, and large-format production
- Anticipate how each piece will function in its final environment before submitting work for review
- Identify production concerns, missing information, or potential issues early in the process
- Apply revisions accurately and thoroughly
- Maintain organized version control and final file management
- Review final deliverables for copy accuracy, sizing and alignment, spelling and grammar, iImage quality, QR codes and links, color setup, and export settings
What We’re Looking For
- Strong typography, layout, and visual hierarchy skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and production accuracy
- Professional interpretation of creative direction without overly prescriptive instructions
- Confidence working from evolving briefs and asking thoughtful clarifying questions when needed
- Strong problem-solving skills related to layout, copy, production, and file setup
- Self-motivation to work independently and keep projects moving forward efficiently
- Understanding of how design requirements change across print, outdoor, direct mail, social, and digital platforms
- Proactive identification and resolution of issues before they are pointed out
- Excellent organizational and file management habits
- Strong management of multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to balance creativity, speed, and production realities
- Professionalism when receiving direct feedback and implementing revisions quickly
Required Technical Skills
- Advanced Adobe InDesign skills
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- Professional print production and prepress experience
- Ability to interpret and follow vendor print specifications
- Strong understanding of bleed and safe area setup, CMYK and spot color workflows, specialty print finishes (spot UV, foil, varnish, etc.), large-format and billboard readability, typography and hierarchy, packaging and exporting production-ready files, InDesign tables and styles, multi-version production workflows
Important Expectations
This role requires:
- Independent execution and sound decision-making
- Strong self-review and quality-control habits
- Consistent attention to detail
- Reliable follow-through and accountability
- Accurate implementation of feedback
- Critical thinking about how work performs in the real world — not just on screen
- Clear communication around progress, questions, deadlines, and production concerns
- Reliability and professionalism in a remote or fast-moving work environment
This is not an entry-level or training position. Candidates should already be confident in InDesign, print production, file organization, and standard production workflows.
Nice to Have
- Agency experience
- Political or direct mail experience
- Large-format or outdoor advertising experience
- Experience with magazines, catalogs, directories, listings, tables, or other data-heavy layouts
- Specialty print production experience
- Web design experience
- Experience with Figma and ClickUp
Application Requirements
Please include:
- Portfolio examples showcasing both creative design and production-heavy work
- Examples of print production or prepress work, if available
- Examples demonstrating campaign adaptation across multiple sizes or formats
Selected candidates will be asked to complete a practical design and production exercise as part of the interview process.
