Director of Recruitment

The Contractor Consultants | Remote (US or Canada) | Full-Time | Reports to the COO

About Us

The Contractor Consultants helps construction companies solve their hardest problem: hiring. Through our Great Hiring Partner program, we give contractors a predictable, always-on hiring funnel so they can stop worrying about finding skilled people and get back to building. We've roughly tripled revenue in the past year, and our recruitment division is the engine of that growth. Now we need a leader to own it.

The Mission

Own the recruitment division so that our Great Hiring Partner clients consistently receive predictable hiring-funnel delivery, renew at high rates, and experience white-glove service that matches the promise made in sales.

This is not an internal talent acquisition role. Recruiting is our product. You'll run a multi-pod delivery organization where client outcomes, team capacity, and pod-level profitability all have to stay in balance - and where the ultimate scoreboard is the annual net profit ($ and %) of the recruitment division.

What You'll Own

The division P&L. You are accountable for the recruitment division's annual net profit, in dollars and margin. Every decision - staffing, capacity, process, client mix - rolls up to this number.
Renewal-worthy delivery. Push the recruitment org to deliver an experience that earns renewal by default. Surface issues before they become churn risks. "They stayed, but they're annoyed" doesn't count as a win here.
Leadership pipeline. Build leaders faster than we build pods. Find, grow, and when necessary replace the Client Relationship Managers and Hiring Success Managers who run our pods, so leadership quality always stays ahead of growth.
Front-line signal into scalable improvement. Stay close enough to clients and recruiters to see real problems early. Partner with Performance and Recruitment Ops to test changes in one pod, prove impact, then roll out division-wide.
The three-way balance. Continuously balance what clients need, what pods can handle, and what keeps each pod profitable - and push back when any one of the three tilts too far.
Calm under pressure. When pods struggle, you're the prepared, solutions-oriented leader in the room, teaching your managers to break problems down and lead their teams through issues without panic or blame.

How Success Is Measured

Your bonus and your scoreboard are one and the same:

Annual net profit ($ and %) for the recruitment division
Client churn rate (%)
% of team pods in green performance status
Team capacity and readiness (%)
Client satisfaction score / NPS

Who You Are

7+ years of recruitment leadership, with meaningful time in a staffing, RPO, or recruitment-services environment; you've led recruiting as a client deliverable, not just an internal function
You've owned a P&L (or the revenue/margin outcomes of a delivery org) and can talk fluently about capacity utilization, pod- or team-level unit economics, and margin protection
You've led leaders - managing multiple teams through managers, and building the bench beneath you
Client retention is your instinct. You've been directly accountable for renewals, churn, or account health in a recurring-revenue services business
Construction, trades, or skilled-labor hiring experience is a strong plus; you understand why hiring a foreman is nothing like hiring an accountant
Operationally rigorous. You run on KPIs, dashboards, and weekly operating rhythms - not vibes
Calm, prepared, and direct. You de-escalate, you don't deflect, and you never lead through blame

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary: $160,000 – $200,000 USD, based on experience and location
Performance bonus: 20% of base, tied to division net profit, client retention, and delivery KPIs (OTE: $192,000 – $240,000 USD)
Fully remote. We hire across the United States and Canada
VP-track role: Title and compensation review tied to division profit milestones - this seat is built to grow into VP of Recruitment
