The Arts and Culture Division in the Department of Public Works has an exciting opportunity for a temporary, non-benefited, part-time Public Art Technician! The ideal candidate will have a passion for arts, culture, and community initiatives.
This is a temporary, non-benefited, part-time position up to 17.5 hours per week (not to exceed 233 hours per quarter and 1039 hours in the FY). There are no benefits offered with this position.
Knowledge of:

Customer service principles.

Microsoft Office Suite (word processing, database, spreadsheet, and PowerPoint), Microsoft Teams, and graphics such as Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesign

Basic principles, practices, and operations of providing arts and culture assistance.

Work organization and office management principles and practices.

Methods and techniques of effective technical, administrative, report preparation, and presentation.

Terminology used in the area of assignment.

Modern office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers and various software packages.

Methods and techniques used in communication and public art.

English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

Basic filing, and confidential recordkeeping principles.
Ability to:

Learn to prepare a variety of basic reports and agendas.

Plan and organize work to meet schedules and timelines.

Work Experience:
Two (2) years of experience in art handling and/or paid office or program support.
Education:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by college level coursework in art, art history, art conservation, and/or gallery practices
Environment: Work is performed in a standard indoor and outdoor environment. May be required to work on evenings or weekends.
Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; lift objects up to 50 pounds; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
