Summary of Responsibilities
The Medical Coder will review and code clinical documentation for accuracy, regulatory compliance, and reimbursement optimization within home health services. The Medical Coder will assign appropriate ICD-10 codes, verify documentation supports physician-ordered care, and ensure compliance with Medicare and home health guidelines. They will collaborate with clinicians, physicians, and healthcare team members regarding documentation clarification, coding accuracy, and regulatory updates to support quality patient care and organizational performance. This detail-oriented role plays an important part in maintaining accurate reimbursement, supporting compliance standards, and promoting positive patient outcomes.

Qualifications

Current CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) or CPC (Certified Professional Coder) certification, required.
Preferred Certification: HCS-D or other relevant coding certification.
One (1) year of coding experience in home health, healthcare, or related clinical settings preferred.
Strong knowledge of ICD-10 coding and Medicare guidelines preferred.
Knowledge of home health regulations and OASIS documentation preferred.
Homecare Homebase EMR proficiency preferred.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and communication abilities required.
