Position Summary
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Barron County is seeking a mission-driven, culture-centered CEO/Executive Director to lead the organization into its next stage of growth and impact.
This is a meaningful leadership opportunity for someone who cares deeply about kids, believes in the power of community, and understands that a strong mission also requires strong business operations.
The CEO/Executive Director will lead staff, partner with the Board of Directors, build community support, oversee financial performance, strengthen operations, lead fundraising efforts, and serve as the primary ambassador for the organization.
The ideal candidate will be energized by both mission and management. This leader must be able to inspire people, build trust, manage complexity, raise resources, strengthen culture, and ensure the organization remains financially and operationally sustainable.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership, Strategy, and Culture
- Lead the overall planning and operation of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Barron County.
- Partner with the Board of Directors to set vision, strategy, annual goals, and long-term priorities.
- Build a healthy, accountable, mission-focused culture.
- Inspire, coach, support, and retain a strong team.
- Create clarity around roles, expectations, standards, communication, and performance.
Financial and Operational Management
- Oversee the financial health and operational performance of the organization.
- Develop and manage budgets in partnership with the Board and appropriate committees.
- Monitor revenue, expenses, cash flow, staffing models, program costs, facility needs, and other key drivers of sustainability.
- Strengthen systems that support efficiency, accountability, compliance, and responsible growth.
- Manage the cost structure of a growing nonprofit while protecting program quality and mission impact.
Fundraising and Community Engagement
- Serve as the lead ambassador for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Barron County.
- Build strong relationships with donors, businesses, schools, civic leaders, families, community partners, and public officials.
- Lead fundraising, donor cultivation, sponsorship development, grant opportunities, events, and other resource development activities.
- Tell the Club’s story in a compelling way that inspires people to give, volunteer, advocate, and partner.
- Increase community visibility, trust, and support for the organization.
Board Partnership, Safety, and Compliance
- Provide professional leadership and support to the Board of Directors.
- Keep the Board informed, engaged, and aligned around the organization’s mission and priorities.
- Maintain compliance with Boys & Girls Clubs of America membership requirements, regulatory standards, and applicable laws.
- Keep safety, youth protection, and compliance central to every decision.
- Ensure clear standards, training, and systems are in place to protect youth, staff, volunteers, and families.
First-Year Priorities
The first year will focus on listening, learning, building trust, and creating the foundation for the Club’s next stage of growth.
Key priorities will include:
- Building strong relationships with staff, Board members, donors, families, schools, community partners, and civic leaders.
- Assessing organizational culture, team structure, financial position, operations, fundraising opportunities, and program effectiveness.
- Strengthening staff engagement, accountability, communication, and leadership rhythms.
- Clarifying strategic priorities for growth, sustainability, program quality, fundraising, and community impact.
- Ensuring safety, compliance, and youth protection remain central to all operations.
Required Qualifications
The successful candidate must demonstrate:
- Strong commitment to serving youth and strengthening communities.
- Proven leadership experience in nonprofit, business, education, youth development, community leadership, or another relevant leadership setting.
- Ability to build, lead, coach, and retain effective teams.
- Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, cash flow, cost management, and resource planning.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to speak effectively and persuasively to groups and individuals.
- Strong relationship-building skills with staff, donors, schools, civic leaders, families, volunteers, and community partners.
- Sound judgment, integrity, humility, accountability, and emotional intelligence.
- Ability to lead safely, ethically, and in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience working with a Board of Directors or governing body.
- Experience with fundraising, donor development, grants, sponsorships, or community partnerships.
- Experience in nonprofit leadership, youth development, education, social services, business management, or community-based organizations.
- Experience leading a multi-site or multi-unit organization.
- Knowledge of Boys & Girls Clubs of America programs, standards, or membership requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree from an accredited college or university.
Equivalent leadership experience, business management experience, nonprofit experience, fundraising success, youth development experience, or other relevant executive leadership experience will be strongly considered.
