Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated MRI Technologist (PRN) to join our diagnostic team in Laredo, TX. In this role, you will perform routine magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures to support vital diagnostic and treatment services.

As a PRN MRI Technologist, you will ensure patient safety and comfort, produce high-quality diagnostic images for physician evaluation, maintain compliance with department protocols, and uphold safety standards. Key duties include operating advanced imaging equipment, managing inventory, and delivering compassionate, high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions

Diagnostic Imaging: Perform high-quality MRI procedures according to physician orders and established departmental protocols.
Patient Safety & Screening: Review MRI questionnaires and patient clinical histories to identify contraindications (e.g., implants, foreign bodies) and ensure patient safety prior to scanning.
Equipment Operation: Proficiently operate and monitor MRI imaging and processing equipment following strict safety guidelines; report technical issues promptly.
Patient Care & Education: Prepare, educate, and instruct patients before, during, and after exams to alleviate anxiety and promote high patient satisfaction.
Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict MRI safety standards, maintain designated MRI safety zones, and verify patient and staff readiness prior to zone entry.
Clinical Documentation: Document and correlate patient history with exam findings to ensure accurate evaluation by the radiologist.
Order & Patient Verification: Verify physician orders and dual-patient identifiers prior to procedures to ensure protocol adherence and safety.
Team Collaboration: Work alongside radiologists, physicians, and cross-functional healthcare team members to optimize imaging results and clinical outcomes.
Supply & Inventory Management: Maintain stock of MRI supplies and equipment, ensuring sterile availability as needed.
General Duties: Maintain regular and reliable attendance, adhere to facility standards and policies, and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Experience

Education: Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology or MRI program (Required).
Experience: 0 to 2 years of clinical experience as a registered MRI Technologist (Required).

Certifications & Licensures

ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification OR
ARMRIT (American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists) certification (or eligible and obtained within 12 months of hire) (Required).
BLS / BCLS (Basic Life Support) certification (Required).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Strong knowledge of MRI principles, safety protocols, and imaging techniques.
Proficiency with MRI hardware, operating systems, and associated software.
Excellent communication skills for patient interactions and interprofessional collaboration.
Compassionate patient assessment skills with high attention to detail.
Basic computer proficiency for electronic documentation and image processing.
