The role of the Transportation/Maintenance Coordinator is to manage the daily operations, planning, coordination, and evaluation of the Transportation and Maintenance functions at CDS. This position will also coordinate required compliance tasks and meet scheduling demands and safety requirements.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
1-3 years’ experience as Transportation or Maintenance Coordinator, or in a similar position is preferred.
Must be 23 years of age with a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Current CPR certification through AHA or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating equipment used in transportation; operating standard office equipment; preparing and maintaining records; planning and managing projects; adhering to safety practices; and using pertinent software applications.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: health standards and hazards; safety practices and procedures; concepts of grammar and punctuation; Individual Education Plans (IEPs); spreadsheets and databases; and pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes and regulations, including the state Motor Vehicle Code and Education Code as they relate to the operation of vehicles in transporting children.

A. Transportation
Transports preschool children to and from school and/or field trips in a safe, efficient, and on-schedule manner.
Maintains cleanliness of bus/ fleet vehicles (e.g. cleaning windshields, mirrors, interior/exterior, picking up debris, sweeping floor, wiping upholstery, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining appearance, sanitation and safety of vehicles.
Prepares written materials (e.g. incident reports, mileage reports, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information.
Provides maintenance of buses and vehicles including: washing vehicles, arrange maintenance of vehicles and fueling vehicles.
Maintains safety equipment on vehicles according to the Department of Family Services
Ensures child safety seats are properly installed, used and maintained for all vehicles.
Assists with training new staff with transportation policies including defensive driving, passenger assistance, child safety seat installation, and use.
Documents records, vehicle expenses, and monthly inspection records.
Complies with and completes WYTRANS grant (Black Cat) information pertaining to the vehicles used at the facility.
B. Maintenance/Safety
Schedules and conducts monthly fire drills and maintains required documentation.
Maintains storage areas, sheds, and containers for ease and efficiency of use.
Promotes Safety and Security within and around all areas of CDS property.
Updates evacuation plans as needed.
Maintains the general cleanliness and upkeep of the physical building and equipment including:
Coordinating with outside vendors to obtain bids and complete needed building/equipment repairs. Coordinating snow removal for parking lots; and snow removal from vehicles and entryways and sidewalks.
Maintaining cleaning equipment, carpet shampooer, and vacuums.
Completing routine inspection and maintenance of building such as:
Change light bulbs
Paint as necessary
Wash windows
Ordering and maintaining supplies
HVAC filter replacement and monitoring
Minor plumbing/electrical/tool/ and vehicle repair
Maintain the sprinkler system and lawnmower.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some climbing and balancing, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 50% sitting, 25% walking, 25% standing. The job is performed under significant temperature variations and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
